Stopped in at River Roost's new tap room yesterday after a hike in VT -- and ended up doing a local tour to Big Fatty's and the pot shop next to RR. Didn't make it to the new foodie spot Red Can but read good things - and the place looks chill. Tap list at Fatty's is as good as Armsby Abbey and having RR next door really puts this little area in the ultimate beer oasis category. No lukr's yet so there is room for improvement still. Had some burnt ends at Fatty's along w/their sick brisket/caramelized onion mac and cheese. Beers sampled were all absurd - the latest Schilling festbier -- HF 2X Nelson - and all the River Roost stuff was top notch. Just ran out of capacity to drink more. Incredible little oasis that is only getting better.
Haven't gotten up that way in a bit but looking forward to revisiting. Feels that city has had a tough go of it between nonstop construction and flooding over the years, so good for them.
Fatty's is a mecca obviously. River Roost makes good stuff, and i'm excited that they'll have an actual taproom now.
I go to River Roost a few times per year and I’d say they’ve had a taproom for years, consisting of an outdoor area and the entranceway up to the bar inside. Are you saying they expanded it recently?
It's been at least 3 years since I've been to RR, so I may be out of the loop. Last time I went they just had the retail counter area, and you could kinda wander about in the brewery side a little and drink your samples, but it wasn't a real taproom experience and i think the pours were strictly limited. Then I know they were doing the winter outdoor bubble thing during covid for a bit. That's another thing, I only went during ski season, so i don't know if I've seen the patio without snow.
I just moved to this area on the NH side and this has been an awesome surprise. The BA barleywine at river roost is superb and their hazies are top notch.
It’s funny because they barely promoted the new tap room opening - very few photos of it anywhere - I had to go to Untappd to get this one. It’s nice - you need to go more often
If anyone is coming through, give a shout. I’m just in the Norwich Hanover area and would love to grab a beer sometime
