Photo dates

    It would be nice if the date a beer's photo was uploaded was included in the beer's page.

    i.e. here:
    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/41869/716798/

    Rather than "Photo uploaded by gatornation." have "Photo uploaded by gatornation on YYYY/MM/DD"

    Sometimes the photo is clearly an older label than what I'm holding, and it would be nice to have an idea how much older.

    If it's easy, great! If it's not, or not worth it, I'll survive!

    Completely agreed, Ryan- Would be handy info! (I mean, if we include the date that the profile was made, it would make sense to have those details reflect for the pic as well..) How feasible would it be, @Todd ?

    I agree, although I am not sure what a photo date influences as long as the contents in the can/ bottle have not changed. I have seen cases where the ABV or even hop mix change with different labels, but it seems rare.

    If the artwork has changed, a picture of the current version is helpful.

    Before I travel, especially to a new area, I’ll research beers that I want to hunt. If I know what they look like it’s MUCH easier to find them amongst the many options at the bottle shop. It can be challenging when you’re staring at a few coolers full of new options and don’t recognize many of them.

    Especially when some bottle shops seemingly just randomly slot beers in. They’re not organized by style, region, alphabet, etc…. Some, not all!

    Good idea, but not worth updating legacy code to make it happen. I'd be up for revisiting when we eventually overhaul beer photos.

    How can the original photo be changed? I know I can "Report an Update" and under "Update Reason" select Photo, but then what is the next step?

    Explain in the update request that you would like to add a new photo. Once the mods review your request and delete the original photo, just add the new photo as normally.
    I just did one myself today.
