    I tried out FG's Krush Architect (Ghost Town collab). I thought it was a decent beer with good FH aroma, but the flavors I associate with Krush (HBC 586) were a little lost. Not sure if that's because of the cryo Nelson that was also used or for some other reason (maybe it gets overwhelmed?), but I'm glad I only bought 2.

    Was running errands near the Perry district and decided to take part in Perry Street's Taco Tuesday.

    I was hoping A Tribe Called Fresh was still on. It wasn't. Public Frenemy, a hazy with fresh Citra hops, was a decent substitute. Tribe was one of my favorites, though.

    Still, there's a major effort to acquire and drink those specimens. I can imagine the hours spent in the quest.

    Definitely getting to be near the end of the season, but Roscoe's still has 14 fh beers on tap. So here I am with a flight of Living Haus fh scully, Fresh Trop from Bend Brewing, fh Bodhi, and fh Pallet Jack. I suspect the PJ isn't really a fh beer, and in fact it's the weakest beer in my flight. Really, it tastes very much like regular PJ (which isn't the worst thing that could happen).

    Otherwise, the fh bodhi is the clear winner in this flight. Has considerable fh character on the always excellent bodhi frame. The fresh trop is a bit of a disappointment, given how outstanding it's been in previous years. Not picking up a lot of fh chatacter today. The fh scully is a pleasant wcipa with a touch of fh goodness. Probably my second favorite beer in the flight.

    They just tapped a keg of fh double crush, so might get a glass of that next.

    Angelina indicated they tapped their last fh keg, so they're done for the season. This year's tally is 136 fh kegs tapped. Two less than last year, but a bit more than what they tapped in 2021 and 2022. Still not bad. For those who are keeping score at home.:sunglasses:

    Finishing the day with a glass of fh double crush. Still pretty enjoyable, but has minimal fh chatacter at this point.

    136 distinct fh beers.

    From early September thru the end of October, they typically have between 12 and 14 fh beers on tap all the time. Some take days and weeks to kick, some will kick the same day they put the keg on. The community/neighborhood out here is into it.

    This just underscores how special fresh hop season is, especially in the Northwest. I can’t really think of another aspect of the U.S. beer scene that compares to it. The closest analogy might almost be Oktoberfest in Munich, but I’ve never been so that might not be accurate.

    Citra Slicker.. almost Halloween and the season still rolls on.
    But damn I need exercise..decided to walk to the Tap room after the rain slackened.
    Sweating but I think I did ok.1.60miles in just under 30 mins. OK for a fat senior

    Oktoberfest is not primarily a beer thing .more just a party thing. I would compare FH Season to regional wine celebration in Europe

    I knew I wasn’t being as clear as I wanted to be with that comment. What I meant was, as far as beer-centric “events” go, there are some loose parallels between fresh hop season and Oktoberfest—but they are more dissimilar than they are alike. And you’re right, fresh hop season is more like, say, the arrival of Rainier cherries or fresh peaches or sweet corn, or any other agricultural product that has a limited window of availability. What’s a little unique about fresh hops is that it’s not the ingredient itself that is cause for celebration, but what brewers manage to do with it to showcase what’s so special about it.
