Still sounds pretty over priced to me.

The fact is that ABInbev can make beer for less than anybody else (maybe MillerCoors in the US can come close). AB can also offer incentives in some states to get lost Bud Light tap handles back.

Appreciating a Hamm's on the deck. Packed away many of my beer glasses. I have 3 Hamm's glasses but apparently packed them up. Hope it's okay for Hamm's to go in a High Life glass. Cheers to Hamm's!

[IMG] Went to Frankenmuth, MI on Monday. Koger had 30 racks for $13.99. So I picked up one. I was actually looking for a six pack of something cheap and they did not have anything. I had a 30 bought a few days before at the local Meijer for $15.49. Pic is my beer fridge. Come on over if any of you run low. Best drink by mid-Jan. Let's get to work. Garage service door is open. :beers:

Hamm's is slowly disapperaring here in Colorado Springs since, according to a Liquor Store owner I'd asked said: "it ain't selling in this market 'cause no one drinks it here...so the distributor is not gonna carry it anymore..." Me thinks Colorado Springs is (and has been) OVER saturated with too many hit-and-miss, over-priced Krapp Brewers and cash strapped beer drinkers here are being left for dead, just like Hamm's has become in this marketplace.

Maybe it's just a regional thing? There's still a place for inexpensive AALs out where I live, but Hamms doesn't seem to be filling that particular niche. Most beer bars will have tall boys of Montucky, Rainier or PBR... just not Hamms. I assume it's still available in most grocery stores, but couldn't swear by it. Its not something I see anyone drinking out here (despite the attractive price point).

Rainier is iconic in the NW so that would be my choice. Funnily enough I found Rainier for the first time in decades when we visited Idaho summer of 2023 and then it started to show up in the Bay Area a few months after that.

Rainier wasn't iconic in Oregon. In the late 60s and early 70s in Portland, it trailed Blitz, Oly, and even Heidelberg. It was more popular than Lucky.

It's interesting what's popular up here when it comes to AALs. Near as I can tell, bud products and Miller stuff don't seem to do well here. For some reason Coors light is very popular at a lot of places. Corona and Modelo are also very popular.

From what I can tell price has a lot to do with the popularity of Rainier, Montucky and PBR; a well shot of bourbon, Jamison or tequila with a tall boy back is very popular with the younger crowd. You would think Hamms would be popular in this sort of environment, but for whatever reason it isn’t. I spend a fair amount of time by myself at beer bars (my wife doesn't like most beer), so I people watch and talk to strangers sometimes at beer bars. It's interesting hearing why certain beers are more popular than others.

Yes, but none of those beers are around anymore. Rainier is. These days, it's definitely considered iconic in the NW. Even though I'm pretty sure it isn't brewed here anymore (Google indicates it's currently made in Irwindale Ca. and Woodinville Wa, while BA indicates it's brewed somewhere in Texas. So who knows.).

Sort of like Natty Boh in Baltimore.... (which is brewed up in Pa. I believe).

Interesting. Early on when it showed up in California I checked and it was brewed in Golden, CO. Mass market beer capitalism at work.

    Not Woodinville. https://www.seattletimes.com/busine...-brewery-site-in-woodinville-sells-for-24-5m/
A revived Rainier Pale Ale was brewed briefly in Woodinville (2016-2017?) by Red Hook/CBA under contract to Pabst. I doubt that Rainier Beer was ever made there. Pabst had an option to buy the brewery, but didn't go through with the purchase. Miller (and then MolsonCoors) probably brewed Rainier beer in Irwindale under contract before they sold the brewery to a Pabst-related entity. While the brewery was being refitted and restarted, Coors Golden might have been the source, or possibly City Brewery, LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Irwindale is the most likely brewer now.

Presumably, information regarding the current brewing site should be on the can. If I remember, I'll check when I visit the beer store today or tomorrow. All I can find online is that Rainier is brewed by Pabst now, so Irwindale seems probable to me as well.

I have some Vitamin R in the fridge that I bought a couple weeks ago, "Rainer Brewing Co., Irwindale, CA. Please recycle".

I seem to remember from JK's body of work that the HQ can be used as the location. But the Rainier website does name Irwindale.

Just double checked a can here at the bar. Irwindale it is.

It reminded the bartender that he needed to restock the Rainier and the Hamms. He indicated that during Packer games, they get a lot of calls for Hamms.
