It seems like many of the highest rated Imperial Stouts are only available occasionally. Maybe this is primarily true for barrel aged, but here in Vermont there are few options. My favorite is probably Heavy from Frost. What is the situation elsewhere in the states?
There are many, so many really good imperial stouts available to everyone and often year round. I often complain about the stupid beer laws we have in Michigan, but even with those in place I get Narwhal, Old Rasputin, Black Chocolate Stout, Expedition, Breakfast Stout and I’m sure there are others that I am forgetting at the moment. We used to get Ten Fidy and Speedway, those were the days. Picking a favorite out of those? It all depends on time and place. Cheers!
