I haven’t started one of these in a while, drinking Celebration Ale. I’ll pick up another twelve pack either today or tomorrow. Have a great day BA

Very nice two for open @tolar111 . Just watched an entertaining YT video with degenerate betting at the Breeders Cup. Never bet like he did (betting multiple horses to win), but somehow worked out. Del Mar is a great track to visit.

Today going with another Deth by based on the great results yesterday.

. WBAYDN treatment, I enjoyed this one was slightly better than my drink fresh draft version to close out 2018. Could be batch variation, could be aging. Either way, I'm a happy camper starting the week. Have my final can of 2020 I will bring out later this week if my memory doesn't fail me.

Will stick with a repeat of the Garbage selection from yesterday matching up well with this selection.

    Good morning.

Cantina Errante (Barberino Tavarnelle, ITA) - ALBA 2022 - Wild Ale with apricots (10%).

Spontaneously fermented beer that starts from a "strong" beer must and the addition of 3 ancient varieties of local apricots:
Ammiraglio, Pisana and Precoce di Toscana.
The first fermentation takes place in steel only thanks to the microflora resident on the fruit peel.
Afterwards the must was transferred to 700-liter tonneaux with thin staves, coming from Chianti Classico (first passage for the brewery), where the beer matures for more than 12 months.

On the nose, more woody than wild notes, sweetened by a soft scent of apricot pulp or ripe yellow peach.
the color is orange tending to reddish, while the foam is obviously minimal.
In the mouth, a full-bodied beer, with very minimal carbonation.
The taste is enveloping and characterized by apricot pulp, very rounded by a fine woody hint that gives an elegant complexity to the beer.
The taste has both sweet fruit reflections and wilder nuances, with the woody contribution of the barrel that helps to smooth out all the edges, raising the overall balance of the beer.
Mineral beer, which flows very well, absolutely masking those 10% that are only partially felt in the heat that the drink transmits.
Absolutely not a banal drink, not very acidic and characterized by a nice taste of apricots and wood, mineral like a natural wine... Truly a high example of beer produced with local excellence.
I dedicate it to all those who claim that in this thread we talk mainly (they say "only") about IPA.
    Talking is free.

Good day BAs! Thanks @tolar111 for opening the bar! @Jack_14 - excellent review as usual - makes me wish I was back in Italy drinking local! And @ChicagoJ - I was sorry to hear that Revolution is closing the OG bar - I never made it there but I absolutely LOVE the Revolution variants of Cafe Deth which I've been lucky enough to find. When I was a kid, we used to take family vacations to Chicago and stay near the Loop (Bismark Hotel) - I wasn't sucking down brews But I sure consumed museums!

    Today's New Breakfast Beer:

Final impression and summation: 3.75 (After deducting 0.25 point for an undated personal container) Can was so full that when I popped the top, it flowed out and flatly laid on the lid; essentially little carbonation present. Looks like every other imperial stout on the market until it’s rear-lite. Aroma is weak but distinctly cinnamon. The flavor is excellent chili peppers with no vegetal notes, just spicey. If I could get this regularly, I would. So far, IMHO, the best brew from the BA Big Beer Box 2024.

    Rating 4.1, rDev -3.5%

I’m still catching up on weekend posts, but two responses to tags:

    @Urk1127 - I’m not familiar with Shameless.

@2beerdogs - December 14 is the announced final day.

Still have the great museums. Downtown not bustling like it was in the past. My great uncle built The Drake and then worked there for IIRC 59 years.

It’s Revolution’s original location including brewery which they still brew small batches. It was the original spot I would go to regularly coming home from work (walking or El), but have gone primarily to the taproom the past five years. Bottom line, it’s a great space and their staff and everything else about it will be missed. Hoping something successful will be able to thrive there.

Will join the list of great joints lost over the years.
    • Bars: Beachwood Inn, Guthries, Tiny Lounge
    • Brewpubs: OG Goose Island & Revolution
    • Hot Dog Stands: Wally’s & Nickie’s
    • Ice Cream: Dr. Jazz
    • Italian: Como Inn & Sabbatino’s
    • Pizza: Tony & Lil’s and Father & Sons (was just down the street from Rev)
Support the local businesses you love while they are still around to enjoy.
