    Thank you. I think.

Been a while since I missed a Rev release weekend but I’m double dipping with Krampus pick-ups on Wednesday so I’ll be late-ish. Have the taproom variants usually been sticking around until the following week?

Most of the time, yes. It might not be *every* variant, but when I’ve gone the next week, there was always at least 1 if not 2 left.

Hot take impressions of the draft variants (I hope you all brushed up on your French):

    Le Troncais > l’argent > la cerise

While I was there the library draft was DBXO Deth Jacket (Sanctuary #21), not boss jacket 2019 as advertised. As much as I would have liked to revisit the boss jacket, I didn’t mind.

DBVSOR is delightful. This year’s Straight Jacket should please those who think it’s been too sweet in recent years.

Yup - got to agree, but all are super.
And that DBXO Deth Jacket was terrific.:sunglasses:

    Anyone know the mystery beers?:grimacing:

My trash palette along with @tiffman came up with Ten Year Beer for #1 and Blackberry Finn for #2.
…in any case, it was cool to get two free pours of beers from the past 5yrs and very fun to try to guess what they were.

I thought Blackberry Finn for #2 as well. I got maybe reg ryeway for # 1? I was wondering about apple brandy ryeway but wasn’t getting any fruit notes. Didn’t get cherry either though …

Only had time to try 1 pour today and went with L’argent which was very smooth and overall pretty great. I’m hoping to get back over the weekend to try the others

My favorite of the night was them playing Sleep - Dopesmoker. Also, Le Troncais was great. I love you Rev. We were meant for each other.

Off topic: Great memory of getting introduced to Sleep (with that song no less) last year with my buddy the day before Dark Lord. Looking forward to trying the several variants tomorrow after Rare Day.

#1 was VSOJ, #2 was Lumberstruck

I probably should have tried them on a clean palate because I was way off. I didn’t remember either of them being that sweet and guessed Maple Jacket

Cracked my last DBVSOJ (refrigerator kept) this evening. Still drinking phenomenally. I'm getting loads of melted caramel. I would not be opposed to Rev including DBVSOJ in next season's DW schedule.

I wish I liked the DBVSOR as much as others here. Found it to be a too amped up/unbalanced version of Ryeway, and I preferred the pour of plain Ryeway that I had.

I loved the initial few sips of Troncais but then it started to be a bit much as well, and the oaky/tannic nature really stood out. That said, those tend not to be my favorite notes in a BA stout if they're too much, but I can see why some people will love this one. I frankly thought 3-4 oz was enough, can't imagine 19.

Honestly thought SJ was the best of the bunch, it's a great year for it, very balanced and let's all the components shine.

As a huge Rev fan, hate to say I was a little disappointed in these outside SJ (which oddly I'm usually not a huge fan of, and I usually much prefer ryeway). That said, I felt they smashed the last release of DT, Cafe and Bramble. I'd be happy picking up a 4 pack of any of those.

I had a very nice chat with @gudbrande on Friday at the Rev release...always a pleasure to meet fellow advocates "IRL" and nerd the fuck out!

Good to meet @GuyFawkes in person! My first time at the brewery did not disappoint. Really fantastic tap list on Friday - my favorite was the Deth Jacket Sanctuary #21.

Does GuyFawkes have a reserved bar stool with his name on it there? Inquiring minds want to know.

Maybe? I did not ask him to get up so I could inspect the stool, but he did look pretty comfortable there!

    My mystery beer guesses were:
    #1: 2020 Straight Jacket
    #2: B2 Boss Ryeway

    Actual answers were:
    #1: 2021 VSOJ
    #2: b1 Lumberstruck

Yes, we gave away V.S.O.J. pours all day

I forgot about / missed out on the mystery pours. Did you have to ask for them?

No need to ask - they had a separate station by the barrels with the free pours along with pens and slips of paper to enter your guess of the beer and year. Inventive and fun for sure!

Sanctuary 21 is no longer tapped but the other variants are on still. VSOJ 2021 in its place though.

How did these 1pp V.S.O.J. 4-packs get into the fridge at the Taproom on Kedzie?
