What beer are you drinking now? #4419

Yep - just another day here in damp and dark NW PA - probably until January when we get a week or two of sunshine - about half our annual allotment. Today's New Breakfast Beer, courtesy of a trade with @not2quick:



Final impression and summation: 4.25 Seems high ethanol for an oatmeal stout. Chocolate and cherry are dominant flavors, no bourbon, no barrels. I allowed the final half of the pour to warm up into the temperature range for Imperial Stouts. Here the carbonation was less aggressive, and the cherry lead the flavor, followed by the chocolate. Still neither bourbon nor barrel. To me, this raises the question of which is of greater importance in determining style – alcohol content or grain bill; i.e. is a high alcohol stout with oatmeal added an oatmeal stout or an imperial stout with oatmeal (or a bastardized imperial oatmeal stout).

Good morning BAs! Dogs have been walked and fed, kitchen still needs a major cleanup…too nice to be stuck inside doing chores…on the patio drinking a VSO Gravedigger, a BBA Scotch Ale from Revolution.



Canned 4/4/23. Poured at 52°. Boozy bourbon, sticky sweet caramel and toffee. Mouth warmth from the 14.9% abv. Outstanding!



The morning has warmed from the 50s earlier…now 62° under sunny skies. I’ll probably hit Country Monday at the bar this afternoon. In the meantime, I’m gonna watch the birds and sip on this killer breakfast beer. Cheers and have a marvelous Monday y’all!

Took about an hour to empty the dishwasher, then clean up the mess I made yesterday and reload…I’ll have a little lunch, then head to the pub to fritter away the day…I love day drinking. Cheers y’all!

One of my favorite traditions in the cooler months, is feeding birds out of hand at a local park I walk Emma at daily....the chickadees were out in full force this am!

Happy Monday BA's! It has warmed up nicely, 72 degrees with no clouds. Lasagna for lunch with a Pulp Art hazy ipa. I'll work in the garage after lunch to finish wall painting then we'll decide what epoxy finish we want on the floor.

Kate Bush made some nice tunes like this one that I remember well. Originally a dancer if I'm correct.
I was out of my 'comfort zone' for just a couple of days. Not too much snow and and ice. But that will be different in December I'm afraid No Complaints.
