Changes in thread participation: 2024 compared to 2023

The creation of The Bar happened as a result of Beer Talk feeling too crowded... and people seemed to welcome the change at the time. Now that the "Bar" threads have mainly settled back into Beer Talk, are people happy with the new change? (I'm quoting Todd but this question is aimed at site users)

 

I'm all for what generates more talk and site usage.

Talking purely numbers, just checked now and 10 out of 20 threads on the main page are "Bar" threads.

 

Please, God, NOOOOO.

This was handled politely AND with a good touch of humor.

 

1) I don't see Bluesy as a "liberal" alternative to Twitter/X. I have friends from across the political spectrum that have tired of the jolty ride that Twitter has become, blue checks or not. The decentralized approach attracts a LOT of people.

2) I look forward to the day of an app, and picture posting made easier. I do post pics semi-regularly now, but to this day I still have not posted an official beer pic to its page, nor have I posted an official "place" pic.

 

I'm hesitantly going to say I like the change back, even given I was in favor of some form of change when The Bar was created. After going through it all, I wonder if there will come a time when cross-posting yields the same content in 4+ of those 10 "Bar" posts, all at the top of the list of 20 because they were posted within minutes of each other... completing the first revolution of the categorization lifecycle

 

They're chronic, unfortunately, but hey! Here I am! Haven't been on in nearly a month, but I decided to pop in! I missed it!

 

Thank you sir! For what it's worth it, (god, it feels weird actually saying this plainly) but I love you, man. I love everything that you've done. I love that you started this awesome community that changed my life forever for the better, and that you took the time out of your undoubtedly extremely busy day to express genuine sympathy to me--a somewhat long-term member of lesser prominence--to show your appreciation to me personally. I just want to say thank you. For everything.
I apologize if I'm a bit emotional. It's been a really hard and lonely past couple of years for me and logging in after a month to see this really touched me. Thank you, sir!
