We plan to have a saint amour and a chiroubles Beaujolais. In the past I've tried SN celebration, which is a great beer, but didn't seem to go all that well with turkey and the fixings. Generally, I don't think beer is all that great an accompaniment with turkey dinner.

That being said, several local taphouses are holding post Thanksgiving events with lots of older vintage ba beers. So while I may drink wine with the meal on Thursday, the rest of the weekend will be a smorgasbord of ba delights.

Thanksgiving is typically with the wife's family and wine is on the table with dinner. While prepping food (and having football on the tablet), I can't not have several Celebrations. Though I usually start the day with whatever pale ale or lager is hanging out in my fridge. Ya know ...gotta pace yourself.

Post dinner will probably be a Barleywine from Firestone.

Many moons ago, I remember having Brew Dog's 1,000 IBU beer. I forgot what it was called and the IBU number is ridiculous, but it was bitter and I actually really enjoyed that after so much savory and sweet offerings from a Thanksgiving meal.

BIL stopped by Hardwood in RVA this past weekend and snatched me 4 packs of the Paddy's Pumpkin Pie and the Gingerbread Stout Chocolate Babka variant... will probably have one of each to start the festivities.

Sounds like a great weekend. I also have a local brewery that is having a BA beer festival all week, so I'm likely going to be there sometime during the weekend.

I haven't looked to see what white wines we have in the basement, but I'm pretty sure one is NA, so I'm anxious to give it a try. I don't recall what style it's supposed to mimic. I hope I don't mess up a nice dinner, but I can always taste it ahead of time and go with Plan B if needed, beer.

If there is that demand, they can bring their own beer.

    Cheers!

    I have:

True Anomaly White Dwarf, Wild Ale. Saving for NBW and review. Should also, I'm hoping, pair nicely with some funky cheese I have (when I was a kid, my Uncle always brought the funkiest cheese he could to Thanksgiving and Christmas. He obviously liked it, but also thought it was funny seeing all the kids react to it and run away. Well, when it turned out I really liked it, he didn't have it all to himself ha, so I always get some now as well).

Real Ale Green Screen and Great Heights Stella, both quality West Coast style IPA's.

    Saint Arnold Amber.

If I'm so inclined to do more...Harviestoun Ola Dubh, Sam Smith Imperial Stout, and I still have some Boulevard Chardonnay Cask Saison.

Oh and if I'm really in the mood, 2013 Bigfoot.

    I've got a 6'er of
Sam Adams Ole Fezzi, just because I had to. Good drinking for "social hour," to get in the mood.
Also a 4 pk of Allagash Curieux, mainly for the 10% alcohol to go along with dinner.
It is about the only barrel aged beer I actually enjoy.
I also got a 6'er of Yards Thomas Jefferson Golden Ale. At 8%, it's my craft go-to, for filler.
I also have a bottle of Tröegs Mad Elf for dessert.
That should get me through the night, I hope?
If not, I'm sure my father will have an abundant supply of Tröegs Tröeganator and Miller High Life, should I somehow remain sober and out of beer.
Happy Turkey Day to all and to all a tipsy night!
Be safe, don't drink and drive.
    Public service announcement.

@John_M brought up the topic of the paring of beer with the food folks will be eating for their Thanksgiving meal.

Permit me to suggest that Belgian Ales are the best choice for this food pairing. I personally will either be drinking a Saison or Belgian Dubbel Ale with my meal. I have been going back and forth here. Maybe I will 'associate' the Saison with the Lions and Dubbel with the Bears and whoever wins the game that will be my choice for my beer with dinner.

    Cheers!

Headed home tonight (Boston --> So Cal) and I am hoping that I can land a couple west coast IPAs (you know, actual good ones)!

I think a non-fruited saison pairs perfectly with a turkey dinner. Even a darker fruited saison could work but the paler and lighter the better. In the past I’ve done Saison du Ble, Oude du Ble, CdC b7, Arthur, Saison Bernice. All pair really well with turkey.

Probably a big pot of coffee in the morning. Cook until early afternoon then have a dark lager before dinner. If I can show some restraint and not be too full I'll have a barrel aged barleywine as a nightcap. Thinking either ADWTDTO or Side Project For Alan

It should be a foregone conclusion that you'll be drinking the Saison, Jack.

Starry noche by weldworks for a nightcap.
Happy Thanksgiving to the entire BA crew.

Achel Blonde Extra with dinner, and Schramms A Smile of Fortune for dessert. Probably a BA stout to drink that night while watching The Last Waltz.

    Well stocked, so I have....
    SN Celebration
    Sweetwater Festive Ale
    Creature Comforts Winter
    Stone Double Bastard
    Lagunitas Maximus

Thinking of having a Celebration ale, then ending the day with a Double Bastard.

I believe the spelling has been changed to Türkiye—and does anyone else find it kind of random that we celebrate the former capital of the Ottoman Empire?

Seriously, though, for Thanksgiving dinner proper I’ll probably open one of the 750s of Chimay Grande Réserve that I recently picked up at Costco for $10. After that, if I feel like having more beer with the inevitable second helping later, I’ll have a Jubelale and/or one of the Ayinger Oktober Fest-Märzen or Schlenkerla Märzen bottles I never got to because of fresh hop season.
