What beer are you drinking now? #4425

Good afternoon BA. Spending the day putting up the decs by the looks of it, beer is much needed!

One I've wanted to try for a few years and finally managed to get hold of some.

 

I found this canned on 11/14/24. NEIPA 7.4% to start this very cold morning. Cheers all.

Malty sweet and a lovely lasting bitterness. Glad I bought a few cans now.

Good day BAs! Thanks @Shanex, for opening today's bar! Another restless night - weird dreams when out - mostly awake (I think) ergo sum)). Well, Rene Decartes was a drunken fart, and so am I!



Anyway, today's New Breakfast Beer, the penultimate selection from the BA Big Beer Box 2024:



Final impression and summation: 4.25 The bourbon shows up on the aftertaste – the beechwood smokiness carries throughout. Beechwood is what Schlenkerla uses to smoke the malt in their Marzen – a deliciously unique taste. I’ve had other US versions of rauchbier, none of which hold up to the Bamberg styles – this brew can!

I have been holding off on drinking this one because I am not a fan of most smoked beers. Is the smokiness overpowering?

 

I wouldn't call it "overpowering". I would call it "shining through" and "delightfully smoky" and "tending toward jerky", but then I love rauchbiers! I go to Bamberg, Germany, every spring just to hang out and drink rauchbiers. If you don't want it, I'm game for a trade.
