I know in the rules it says that BA doesn't assume any responsibility for trades gone wrong, but is there any avenue on the site for just getting names out there of deadbeat traders? I know back on the old site someone had a spreadsheet going...

Send oldp0rt a message. He's taken over the job and has done a great job helping me in the past.

Whoops, sorry, missed your reply! As FTowne said, send oldp0rt a message explaining the situation and why you feel the trader deserves to be on the list and he will take care of it.

You first need to create a thread that vaguely mentions a trading situation that's potentially gone sour with only the smallest amount of immediacy. Only then can it be allowed to spiral out of control to the point where you have to actually call out the trader's username. At this point, someone will try to be really clever and provide links to their Facebook, LinkedIn and OKCupid profiles (tsk tsk tsk). Once you reach this stage you can then submit a name to the bad trader spreadsheet.

Or you can do it your way too. Doesn't matter, really.

I am very glad I have had only great trading experiences! I find it so had to fathom that someone can enter into a trade planning not to send their half. These people are basically thieves!

Build a fire and start roasting your s'mores, campers. I think it's about time for a story.

Yeah, I like this option ! We need some entertainment. The bad traders list is good, but the bad trader needs to be outed publicly here on the site.

I think the vast majority of bad traders were "well intentioned" at the start. They're usually not completely new traders, but people who got in over their heads, got burnt out, didn't care enough to hold up their end of a deal, went over budget, got lazy, etc, etc. Thieves, yes, and bad traders, absolutely, but I do think it's rare that somebody goes into a trade planning on screwing over the other party. There are more lucrative pursuits out there than a one-time trade for $50 worth of craft beer if you really want to steal.

I just follow two simple rules - if I'm trading with a noob they ship first, and if I'm uncomfortable for any reason I don't do the trade. Things that make me uncomfortable tend to usually be poor communication (if it takes you 3 days to answer a simple question in the middle of a trade, you're probably not for me and my over-communicating ass), unsolicited way too good to be true offers, bm's dat r writn like dis, references not aligning and/or no forum posting history, etc.

My biggest concern at the moment is that the new forums seem to be absolutely flooded with noob traders, and they all seem to be going after relatively big things instead of just getting their feet wet with easy trades. I don't know if this forum is less intimidating maybe, but something has changed compared to only 3 months ago. Makes me a bit fearful for the rash of "bad trader" threads we may end up with in 2 months.

Does that make King Henry and Bramble like a 3000 sq ft $500,000 McMansion in Vegas in 2005?

slightly amended. i'd say doing a trade with a 2012 join date for those two beers is like buying property in mountain house, ca or henderson, nevada in 2007.

Coming from a "new" trader, coming up on my 10th trade done, as long as the other guy has a long list of quality trading partners, I have no problem shipping first or providing my refrences. I dont understand all the new kids going for huge bottles but advice for new traders, its easier trading with vets as long as you dont mind shipping first and keeping in regular contact. I've personally had to move a few trades back a week or two for my next paycheck and everyone has been understanding.

    Just some friendly advice

This is why I don't sweat trading with newer people, or anyone for that matter. I've traded far more valueable things on other forums to worry about $50 in beer. One of my trades last week was with a guy who joined that day. We both shipped at the same time. Everything went as agreed. If they agree to ship on a particular date and get me tracking I'm not concerned. I still have time to reroute my box back to me if they don't come through on their end.
