What beer are you drinking now? #4435

1) Drekker Metaphase (8.2% canned 11/18/24): A NEIPA from North Dakota with Citra & Nelson Sauvin for flavors of lemon and orange citrus, green citrus and juicy pine.
versus
2) BlackStack Next Week (8.2% no canning date): A NEIPA from Minnesota with Mosaic Cryo, Strata, and Nelson for flavors of grapefruit, passionfruit, dank white grape and lychee. Clean and dry. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Drekker vs BlackStack IPA Battle. Both with Nelson.
First is Drekker Metaphase. Citra and Nelson. Amazing combo here. Citrus, bright white grape, citrus flower, with some tropical grape/berry notes.
Next is BlackStack Next Week. Similar, but with some Mosaic and Strata. Similar Nelson citrus flavors upfront. Then some sweet pineapple and mango underneath.
The Nelson hop flavors are amazing but can sometimes be subtle. Both of these have grown on me.
Drekker Metaphase still has some of that phenolic hop burn. It's too fresh, but when this thing settles in at 4-6 weeks it's going to be amazing.
Winner: Drekker Metaphase

 

Picked this up last fall, a nice marriage of BBA stout with mezcal aged vanilla beans, perfect for a windy cold ass day here in the WNC.

I was way late into the Seattle "grunge scene" given how busy i was with a new marriage and adopted daughter in the late 80's/early 90's (who clipped and posted in her BR the newspaper article of Kurt C's death which made me shrug at the time). Enjoy the cuts i have heard from Mad Season and prolly my favorite era in rock history despite my advanced age.

Cool day here in the NW Valley. Will top out at 68 degrees later this afternoon.. Enjoying a Celebration . Also bought this Rib-Rye roast bone-in small end cut for Christmas dinner. It was a phenomenal price at $5.77/lb Ended up being $35 with an additional digital coupon.
