I’ve got a meat sauce simmering on the stove for dinner…I picked a lb of ground spicy Italian sausage to add in a bit…first, I need to replace the screen door with the storm door before we hit the 30s tonight. Cheers!

 

Moonlight Reality Czech Pils. My first time trying this brewery that gets some hype for the more traditional styles and this one in particular clocks in at #2 for Czech Pilsners on this site. I can see why. Soft, clean, and infinitely drinkable with some nuanced complexity. Oyster cracker, bread crust, floral, earthiness, some grass, grain, minerality, some sulfur. Awesome stuff.

1) Sam Adams Boston Lager (5.0%): A Vienna Lager from Boston remastered in 2023 for flavors of brown bread and yeast.
versus
2) Sam Adams Oktoberfest (5.3%): A German Märzen from Boston with flavors of flavors of rich bread, toasted caramel, red cherry and cinnamon roll. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Sam Adams Lager Battle. First is their Boston lager, remastered. Mild aromas and flavors. Hints of brown bread and yeast.
Next is their Oktoberfest. Rich caramel, brown sugar/bread, with some hints of cherry and citrus. Very nice.
I used to really enjoy Boston Lager and it previously beat their Oktoberfest in my side-by-sides in years past. Unfortunately, this remaster is true cringe. They must have really watered this thing down because I guess they are chasing the consumer base prefers lighter and less flavorful beer.
Winner: Sam Adams Oktoberfest

 

La Chouffe Blonde again today. I found a hidden 0.5L bottle of Ayinger Oktoberfest in my fridge that will be coming out later.

Gnosis Seam Reaper IPA (Superdelic/Citra). Big passionfruit, guava, raspberry, ripe mango, yellow grapefruit, floral, some navel orange, Southern Hemisphere funk, and earthy pine. A dry and crisp hazy. Thoroughly enjoy this one.
