I am being told that this trade is unfair in one direction but I think it is unbalanced in the other. What do you think?

Person 1 gives: Hill Farmstead Birth of Tragedy, Mother of all Storms, Cherry AftW, 2012 Darkness

Person 2 gives: AleSmith BA Wee Heavy, The Bruery The Wanderer

If Person 1 is happy and Person 2 is happy then its a fair trade. Win/Win

If not then dont trade. Simple.

Personally, I think Person 1 is giving up more but as long as both parties are content, what does it matter?

Is this for portfolio diversity or maximization of future returns? Or is it for beer?

I think this hinges on what mandatory extras will be included.

The short answer is all that matters is both sides are happy.

The slightly longer answer is that I can see Trader #1 not feeling he is getting enough, but I think Trader #2 would have to be crazy to not be absolutely thrilled with this deal.

It seems like both sides are unhappy, so why is this trade even happening?

I'm located in LA, and my guess is Person 2 is a LA/Orange County guy. My feeling is that I'd be trilled to get what Person 2 is getting, but if I was Person 2, I'd feel a bit guilty in this trade. Maybe Person 2 can add another bottle, perhaps something from Alpine. Alpine is even hard to get in California.

I personally would like to be on Person 2's receiving end in this deal.

Flip a coin. Winner takes both sides.

Headed to my gamblers anonymous meeting, but will check back in an hour to see how this turns out.

I don't know who is who or whatever, but just walk away if you think the person you're trading with is being unreasonable.

One of my first "trade conversations" basically involved the dude wanting like $85 worth of my shelf beer for $25 worth of his shelf beer, and he wouldn't budge. I walked away and was glad to.

I've traded bomber for bomber not knowing what the going rate is for their beer because it was something I wanted.

Having said all that, person 2 seems to be making out.

Generally speaking as long as both people are happy that is what really matters.

To answer the question from a value perspective... I believe Person 2 is definitely coming out ahead. Of course I might feel differently if that was a BA Speedway instead of a BA Wee Heavy.

totally i agree person 2 would have to be crazy not to be super happy with that deal
if I was person One I would just keep those beers and forget the trade
BA wee heavy is good but no way I would ever give up those beers anyhow
im in search of 2012 darkness

Op, are you one of these two traders? :astonished: If you are and you or your trade partner is not happy then further negotiations are needed. A post to ask people not involved in the trade for their opinion would not help if I were the other guy. If you are not one of the traders then I don't understand the point of the post in the first place.
    Good luck to both parties.

For me, I don't have any interest in Darkness, and I'm sure BoT is great and all, but the real gems here are the CAFtW and The Wanderer.....

Having had The Wanderer (Thanks Cali-Gang-Bang-Crew!) I would usually lean towards trying something new, and Cherry Adam would fill me with delight, but The Wanderer was sofa king good, and I haven't had the BA WEE Heavy either.

Basically I would be indecisive on this one, and I certainly don't think it's one-sided in any way.

I would rather be person 2. This year's darkness had many obtaining 6-12 and while Cherry Aftw is fantastic, it's only 12 oz not to mention MOAS was available online and BoT is solid it's on the lower end of the totem poll of awesome HF offerings. Wanderer is a small bottle count and pretty dangerous to obtain. Word has it, last release almost saw a fight break out in the line!

insert cliche here: If both traders are happy, booyashaka
