Howdy from Prague

    I’m a Texan but I live in Prague, Czech Republic. Don’t call it Czechia, everyone here hates that. Before Prague, I lived in West London. I like Belgian Trappist ales and Tripels, English Bitters, Czech Pilsners, stouts, porters, IPAs that aren’t ridiculous, and I’ll try just about anything once. I’ve done a bit of home brewing. I’ve used the site countless times over the years but only just now registered for an account and was pleased to find that the user name I use on other forums, “Texpatriate” was available, so why not. I also collect pocketknives like my dad and my grandfather before me. Na zdraví

    Welcome to the site. Czech-out WBAYDN, and maybe consider starting an off topic thread for knives.

    Please post about your local scene, as there are many of us who will love to read about and see pictures of what’s-up in Prague and Eastern Europe.

    That's good to know.

    Speaking the "Czech Republic," we have a place here in Finland called Vltava that's serves Czech beers and food. It's basic, but I love it. Then there's Juova (a Finnish beer bar) that has the exclusive import (and serving) rights for Pivovar Hostomice beers. You can find Budvar and Kozel everywhere too.

    Some interesting articles on the debate of "Czech Republic" vs. "Czechia."

    Personally, these issues are fascinating, and I am interested in @Texpatriate observations as a current resident. Is it a local issue to Prague, cultural, ethnic, national, something else altogether? I found the articles interesting yet lacking a clear explanation of the debate. Maybe it boils down to people not liking change or simply preferring a different option.

    And should BA change the moniker throughout the data base (specifically because it shows under the avatar, as "from" location.
