On the First Day of Christmas...

 

Merry Christmas BA community! Hope all are safe and enjoying time with family as I am, or otherwise. I went over my sister's last night for some Ham and cheesy potatoes. Played NBA2K24 with my nephew in the family room, while everyone else was with my 4 month old niece in the living room. I learned that playing on hall of fame mode is nearly impossible. I thought I was at least pretty good at the game before lol.

Going over at 4PM again today for the annual prime rib. They preordered a partially cooked rib roast, but it was only 6 lbs, so my dad went to BJs to get another 6 lbs so we have plenty

Southern Tier 2XMAS. Have not had in awhile, maybe on tap more recently. Very drinkable with a bit of booze. Balanced spice bitterness against sweet. A touch of astringency on a drying finish.

My wife picked it out randomly, I got her into the whole craft beer scene in the first place lol. At least I have someone to ramble on about how beer is made per style when we go out. I might just get a job at a brewery and work my way up. It's always been in the back of my mind. I'm sure learning how to scale up my homebrew knowledge can be done. I've got more beer books to read

Last of the 6 pack, one of my favorites. Fad hops come and go but Cascade, Centennial, & Chinook are here to stay. Great balance of dank and juicy with the signature SN malt backbone.

Merry Christmas BAs! Sunrise coffee - BA Christmas Bomb:



The date is smudged (2/10/24?). Up from my cellar and “rested” for 20 minutes, poured at 53°. Strong cinnamon nose/taste. Barely a whiff of whiskey. Phenolic. Alcohol/hot peppers bite on tip of tongue. Mouth warmth from 13%. Too much cinnamon. Unbalanced.

I’ll take Brian to Mass at 10am, then off to our brother’s house in Huntington for the day and dinner. Temps may reach 50° with some showers. Dry Christmas at Johnny’s house in solidarity with his daughter’s second pregnancy. It will be a fun celebration of family nonetheless!

Really enjoying the depth of flavor and wonderful mouthfeel. The great artwork exceeding even Off Color's high standards another reason to pick up a four pack.
