Happy New Year's Eve, BAs! I'm having an Other Half Nectar Diamonds as I finish up some last minute, year-end business. Next NYE will be the last time I will have to deal with this aggravation. Cheers!

Getting one more in me till the evening here ba. Madonna, iipa, zero gravity. A revisit, as I rated it, a 3.68 in 2019- maybe a little harsh on my score. This is way better than their cone head ipa. Lots of citrus upfront, subtle bitterness on the finish, and a crisp/clean moderate body,

Thank you Vann. I remember well you've been in similar circumstance and those heart rate numbers you were seeing. Fully repaired is a great way to be, sir!

Still planning for Friday VT resupply mission, so if we can make a meetup happen that'll be awesome. And Heady/Focal all around never hurts haha. I know you've got a very brief window this trip. Talk to you soon... Cheers bro!

    1) Warsteiner Dunkel (4.8%): A German Dunkel with flavors of earthy Munich malts, brown bread, and light roasted notes. Clean.
    versus
    2) Ayinger Altbairisch Dunkel (5.0%): A German Dunkel with flavors of brown bread, earthy Munich malt, bread and yeast. Smooth. (Mismatched the two blind)

German Dunkel Battle. A great style for this late fall and early winter time. First is Warsteiner. Authentic dark and brown flavors. A light roastedness too. Excellent.
Next is Ayinger. Pours lighter but drinks more smooth and sweet. More nutty brown bread and caramel malts. One of the best.
    Winner: Ayinger

It's just a completely different beer. And "hoppy" vs the import. From...

    https://www.forbes.com/sites/kennygould/2019/03/07/newcastle-brown-ale-heineken-lagunitas/

'...the Lagunitas-brewed product will feature a different label than that of other Newcastle Brown Ales brewed at 75 breweries around the world and a different recipe.

“It’s a homebrewer’s classic take on an original brown ale,” Tay said. “Lagunitas brewmaster Jeremy Marshall really modernized the recipe, and he’s using American hops like Chinook and Centennial to create something smooth, crisp, and roasty.” '

I bought it because I had never tried the Lags version and was curious about all the negativity. And, because the imported version is being reintroduced in in the US per this thread. Hoping I get a chance to revisit this old fave that got me started brewing in the early 90s.

Nice compare review. That's a tough one. Doubt I could pick those two right in a blind test either. Ayinger is excellent, my favorite imported Dunkel.

I agree with your sentiment 100% Heaven knows that too many 3 year olds became alcoholics because of that thoughtless and dastardly label. Happy New Year to the best part of Suffolk County!

After a Christmas week of running around, being social and eating and drinking copious amounts, I’m home on the couch for a New Year’s Eve of beer and music. Firstup is Emma’s Winter Mild by Omnipollo and Newbarns.

Fitting time for a video with 1.2 billion views on Youtube.

Ah, I see. Brown ale is another classic style that has been neglected. Some barrel aged versions and some with pecans added are nice reinventions.

    Bouncing between browns.

This proper classic one tastes dynamite following up the Lags Nuke.

    It's even @beergoot-approved!

I can hear people and music down at the beach. Too funny. Well, unless you're Greta.
