    1) Drekker That’s A Real Nice Ski Mask (5.1%): A German Schwarzbier from North Dakota with flavors of dark chocolate, sweet espresso, dank earth with some sweet chocolate cherry notes.
    versus
    2) Talking Waters Sound Czech (5.5%): A Czech Dark Lager from Minnesota with flavors of dark chocolate, grains, sweet espresso. Sweet. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Dark Lager Battle. First is Drekker. It's got some dark chocolate, dark cherry and sweet espresso notes. More fruity than you'd expect. Good, but different. Next is Talking Waters. Lots of rich cocoa, chocolate, and leans sweet. More chocolate and sweetness than I'd expect for the style.
Both have great flavors, but drink a little off their style. I guess the win goes to Drekker here as I think the dark fruit flavor adds some complexity.
Winner: Drekker That's A Real Nice Ski Mask

This is a well-rounded and somewhat uniquely flavored barleywine. The bottle label only mentions stainless and bottle conditioning, so I have no idea why I get a mild yet distinct wood barrel tone out of this beer. All the same, it's a treat for your palate.

Seedz Hopper’s New Beer Zwickel. This is a young version of their Hopper’s Hell, which is an excellent Helles. A more amplified earthy hop presence with a breadier malt profile and a bit more yeast presence. Delicious stuff!

Rare I go with 2 x Heady in a single day.

But, surplus stock and fridge space demand it.

That's my excuse anyway, and I'm sticking with it.

I'm sure we can all see the can depicts it being drank from the glass if you want your head to explode in a fantastic display of hops.

    Which I do.

@GreenBayBA, I will join you with this one. The Wolf, aged in 18 Year Elijah Craig Barrels. In spite of the price I will keep going in for more until they are gone. Excellent work from Sheboygan’s finest. :beers:

At Greenbush Brewery enjoying their Dunegras IPA with a fried chicken sandwich and garlic cheese grits. Been years since I’ve had the IPA and it’s just okay, but the food is fantastic, which is usually the case for these guys.

    1) Hop Butcher DUN DUN DUN (7.5% canned 12/3/24): A NEIPA from Chicago with Amarillo, Citra & Galaxy for flavors of orange, tangerine, nectarine, and tropical stonefruit. Leans sweet.
    versus
    2) Hop Butcher Best Buds (8.0% canned 11/19/24): A NEIPA from Chicago with Simoe and Moteuka for flavors of orange citrus and zest, tropical green melon, and some lime. (Correctly matched the two blind)

Hop Butcher IPA Battle. First is DUN DUN DUN. Rated World-Class and a frequent from Hop Butcher. Amarillo, Citra and Galaxy, pretty standard hops. Flavor is a lot of orange citrus and tangerine, some floral and stonefruit as well. Pretty clean.
Next is Best Buds, a new release collab with American Solera in Oklahoma. Nice Simcoe and Moteuka combo. Simcoe gives some tropical melon while the Moteuka adds a touch of lime and pine. Very nice and pretty clean as well.

DUN DUN DUN has amazing reviews, but overally Amarillo and Galaxy have never impressed me too much. They don't add much complexity to the Citra hop flavor here. A great IPA, but nothing out of the ordinary in usual Hop Butcher fashion.
Best Buds has a more interesting hop combo with the Simcoe and Moteuka. More robust and complex tropical flavors as well. Moteuka adds a ton of flavor complexity and is done well here.
    Winner: Best Buds

A cold windy day in the 30's deserves a little warm me up, enjoying a Yeti. Onto the Sirius Jazz station and come across a new to me artist, no video per se but a nice chill piece if you like the style.

Just did all my prep work for dinner so I have time for a brew before I actually engage myself wih making dinner. I don't know what it is with these Delirium beers, but they almost always end up gushing when I open one.

No fridge here. Used the old out of the window trick. Easy with sub zero temperatures (and no risk of hurting people below the window)

Some local lovin' while working on a furniture mod for a friend, baby sitting a pot of chili simmering on the stove, and trying to catch as much as I can of the UCLA / Nebraska basketball game. Nebraska is giving (#15) UCLA a real run and they're loving it right now in front of the hometown crowd in Lincoln, NE. @tacosandbeer.
