Porter Appreciation Thread (2025)

Had this a few nights ago. Side Project Brewing Vertical Ascent Robust Porter.

Was waiting for @Braunmeister_1943 to start this one up so thank you @bbtkd! I almost started it myself but 1) I am far from a porter aficionado and 2) didn’t want to step on anyone’s toes. Cheers!!

Glad to be joining in the thread so early this year. As it warms up, this turns into a nice porter. Good smooth feel too makes it a pleasure to drink.

 

Other than light lagers, i am a big fan of warming up a beer to open it up! With that said, i need to find some porters soon!

Absolutely. I tend to give it a try straight from the fridge and then let it sit for a little during the winter when the house is cold and it takes some time to warm. If I had a better cellar for beers, I'd probably drink everything at cellar temp all winter. Hope to see you sharing some porters soon!

What's the ABV? Is that the same as the beer we see in the US labeled as Foreign Export Stout? Same yellow color scheme for the label

They had a mixed pack it was available in many years back. I think it was the Extra Stout, the Antwerpen Stout, the West Indies Porter and a "Dublin Porter" I still keep the bottle of the last one for display at my home bar.
