    Greetings all,

Drinking one of the best tripel in the world until I go to Bruges and try De Garre Tripel I guess.

Also, some confusion from a few of our users recently as @Todd is currently trying to set the perfect time for kicking the WBAYDN thread and will put it to discussion and possibly a poll soon.

    Cheers!

Always on time, Ja Rule. Not so random of me to post this one.

    Fancy seeing you here, @Shanex!

Since I couldn't let you be here on your own, here's the beer I drank this afternoon: East Coast IPA by Sydney Brewery, a big, grapefruity, dank, old-style beast.

    Cheers!

Long time no see @Shanex and @AzfromOz , See you soon @MadMadMike , @SawDog505 , @Ozzylizard and other regular thread starters, wherever you may reside. And thanks for listening and responding to the community's input @Todd !

Missed out on the 8 hour #4667, but back at a semi-regular time slot as I'm nearing the end of Blues Before Sunrise, a show I've listened to since the 1990s (if first started in 1980) driving home after the late bars closed. Now I'm old and listen mostly at home when I am awake or via the two week archive. Listened to the whole five hour show tonight (ending in under 20 minutes).

Full review linked above, full New Beer Sunday #1038 treatment linked here. WBAYDN Treatment, this is excellent, much preferred over the version with cocoa added. Regular versions work better for me than most releases with additives. This is no exception.

Playing on the Breakfast Club theme on Friday, here's my favorite from Simple Minds.

Gotta hand it to @Todd. He listens and acts on feed back when it's practical and matters.

Good day BAs! Thanks @Shanex for opening the bar! And thanks @Todd for resetting the time - I'm too old and set in my ways to start morning drinking in the evening. Today's (Sunday) New Breakfast Beer:

Final impression and summation: 4 Decent lager, but not to my taste. There is a QR code on the label which tells of the special strains of Austrian malt and hops used in its brewing.

    Good morning BA!

Fairly productive morning for me, well at least for a Sunday morning. Finished painting one of the bedrooms and made a run to the tip to get rid of a load of crap from out of the garage. Lamb hotpot is in the oven, so now it's time for a beer and catch up on the first UFC card of the year.

Fullers Vintage ale and it's tasting bloody good indeed. Cheers!

been awhile & i've been good, staying in my lane.

i remember some legendary debates around this vintage. one that stands out in my memory was by mid December i said it was probably best if everybody immediately refrigerated whatever 2015 BCBS products they'd acquired. i remember one of the OG's replying (paraphrase) : Hold on now, it's way too early to be screaming widespread infection!

i will just say, Sir, it's never to soon to play it safe & today i feel certain that was the right decision. with a lot of anxiety i peeled the cap off this 45 min ago & it's fantabulous.

    Cheers!

It certainly is a special beer, that's for sure. I was lucky enough try it on cask a few years ago, that's a beer memory that will stay with me forever.

Usually pick up a few bottles of each vintage, keep one and drink the rest. The oldest I have is a bottle of the 1998 vintage, which I don't think I'll ever drink because before I obtained it, it was not kept well (On a shelf in a pub) for over 20 years.

Wow! Drinking that as cask ale would be a highlight for any beer enthusiast. A brewpub near me is Cask Marque certified. I'd love to be able to talk the owner into bringing some of that in just once. One time. That would be fantastic.

Can you tell the specific bottling date? If you got one the recalled dates still tasting good almost a decade later (Oct. 9, Oct. 12, Oct. 21, Oct. 22, Oct. 23, Oct. 26, Oct. 30, Nov. 4 or Nov. 5), especially good on you. :beers:

[IMG] All is right in the world. I just hang with you all to sip beers, discover some new or recently released brews, and have some laughs. I like this better, but I was prepared to deal with the other way. Cheers all.

it's been a long time but going by memory, i think the multi date thing only applied to various batches of regular / base BCBS. i feel like BCBW had a single (1) bottling / batch date. or no?

i will come out of my lane now to say, that whole various bottling date was bullshit & GI's way to try to mitigate & limit damages. that whole investigation into specific dates, the BS about one specific bottling line feed being infected etc was all to deny the obvious. there was a mass infection at the barrel level. them admitting that, essentially meant the right thing to do was to acknowledge the issue & be on the hook to refund the entire 2015 release.

if you are intelligent you realize Regal & Rare have yet to go bad. those two were a separate sub-set of barrels. Regal is obviously "Rye" whiskey BA & almost certainly was Rittenhouse Rye barrels. Rare was a subset of 35 year old "Heaven Hill" barrels. the two sub-sets of barrels that were not part of the general "Bourbon Barrel Aging" population & pool never developed infection. the obvious is right there in front of any intelligent being's face.

I missed that was Barleywine. Glad you enjoyed it. I’ve cut back on Goose Island since the whole union busting thing a few years ago. I still have a couple bottles squirreled away from before though.

Condolences to you. not going to lie. i was expecting & prepared for disaster.

at some point i'd left this in the fridge so long i sort of lost the courage to open it.

in truth, i expected to nose it, find it smelling like balsamic vinaigrette dressing, tell myself it's way too early for salad & pour it straight in the sink. then go back to the fridge for option B. except. it smelled delicious. first lip-kiss matched the nose. i will admit when it warmed to room temperature it lost a lil' bit of the rock candy, brandied fruit & brightness it had cold. a rarity in that in my experience this AM, it could be described as 'better' enjoyed ice cold.

lastly i'm guessing it probably tasted that much better (in my mind) because i came to the table expecting a nightmare.
