So I guess DFH read the super contentious "Is Italian Pilsner a style?" thread here last summer, and decided to one up it. Italian-style Imperial Pilsner!

Super Doppio, 7% ABV, 40 IBU

Not yet, I am doing a "Damp" January so mostly drinking NA beers this month.

But I'd give it a try - in general I enjoy beers labeled as "Italian-style" Pils

The last Italian Pils they released (Un’Ora) was $18.99 for a 4 pack. Was interested in trying it but not at that price. Turded up shelves for quite a bit.

I love spelt beers, adds a real distinctive flavor. Will have to try that.

I'll definitely throw one down the ole beer sucker just to give it a shot.
    I love Imperial any-beer.
For me, a 7% abv is a session beer.

Looks like here it’s available in 3 spots (only draft)… somewhere in the Bellagio; at a cafe with no website or reviews or any real info; and at a punk/metal music venue/dive bar in downtown.

I haven’t heard much mentioning of Italian Pilsners lately (last 6months or so). Has DFH missed the trend-chaser crowd on this one? For $16 a Sixer, I’m doubtful whether I buy this one unless reviews and raters are really showing they are loving it.

At 16 bucks this will be a non purchase for me as well.

    Cheers!

That was the first thing that came to mind for me. It reminds me of a few years ago when all of the regional breweries were copying each other with a flood of Brut IPAs and Cold IPAs that nobody wanted. Before that it was the rush to have an adjunct lager that cost 3x more than the beers they were imitating. I know that pivoting with a brewery of a certain size is challenging, but with beer trends I follow Reese Bobby's advice - "If you ain't first, you're last."

Yeah, too many really good Italian Pilsners out there for far less money. (Mmmm, black Pilsners!) Might try a single but not a four pack.

Wake me up when they bring back all or some of the following:

    Indian Brown Ale
    Palo Santo Marron
    Bitches Brew
    Burton Baton

My buddy just shared a crowler of Palo Santo Marron last night that he picked up in Milton.

    It's on tap right now:

Those are pretty much my all-time favorite DFH beers right there, too. They've brought some classic beers back (Raison D'Etre and Chicory Stout are back for 2025), and bottles of Burton seems to pop back up here and there, so it isn't hopeless. I think that as long as Sam has a seat at the table there's hope.

Probably bad spell check, but Ricky Bobby is the great philosopher with the quotes. My favorite quote from that movie was his dad “I got a better idea, how about you go dig a hole and I’ll grab myself another beer”

They bottled palo santo last year; I still have 3 or so left, I believe distro was confined to Delaware and some neighboring states only though.
