Poured from a 12 ounce can dated 2020 into a snifter at 55 degrees.

Look- Deep amber, translucent, visible small particulate, off white sudsy head, average head retention, below average lacing.

Smell- Raisin, toffee, oak, high strength of scent.

Taste- Oak, barley, grassy, toffee, slight citrus, mildly sweet, highly strength of flavor.

Feel- Medium body, slightly below average carbonation, moderately bitter, mildly sweet, moderately creamy, moderately mouth warming, mildly mouth coating, highly astringent.

Overall- Look was more amber and less brown than I expected. The bouquet was nice, but simple. The flavor was dominated by malt and oak with no whiskey or dried fruit character. The body was thinner than expected with a high amount of astringency that detracted from both the feel and flavor. Overall I hoped this beer would deliver much more complexity and depth.

I got a Presidente beer which I never reviewed. Aromas of cracker, grain, herbal, grass, pepper, and skunk character. Taste of cracker, grain, wood, herbal, floral, grass, peppercorn, light pine/skunk earthiness. Medium pine, herbal, woody bitter finish. Medium plus carb and light med body. Crisp clean refreshing and nearly bone dry finish. Balanced grainy malt and sticky hop mouthfeel. Light resins with no astringency. Not a bad beer but it would have probably been better without the green glass. Otherwise just a typical pilsner, but Dominican. 3.58

Revolution - Repo Man, rye stout

12oz can served in a snulip. Can is dated 12/14/23. Got it from @ovaltine in NBS BIF #18.

Pours dark black, medium sized head, moderate carbonation. Smell is roast, chocolate, tons of nuts. Almost a peanut butter vibe.

Taste is anise, nuts, black licorice, some sweetened coffee. Maybe a bit of rye graininess. Lots of roast.

Mouthfeel is medium to thick. Overall, solid stout, wouldn't have called out rye if it wasn't in the name.

2019 version, batch #2 - aged in bourbon and port wine barrels.
The pour was darker than expected, with a light brown head that was only a cm thick but dense and the “bubbles” were probably the smallest I’ve seen.
The taste is freaking amazing. Sorry, that’s not a real description. Malty goodness with chocolate and red wine and oak wrapped in leather (why does that sound good?) I am getting no bitterness whatsoever.
The feel is smooth, soft, and, in my completely amateur opinion, ideal for the style.
OA, this is another excellent beer from Fox Farms. I just wish I kept better records so I knew who’s responsible for sending this to me. I *will* keep better records in the future.

Crystal clear, golden yellow body; sparse carbonation; thick head, white and frothy while leaving sticky rings of foam inside the glass. Very faint aroma; a bit of pine resin. Clean and balanced taste; mild cracker and biscuit malt notes; light toasted bread crust; bold hop bitterness; peppery hop flavor. Medium body; sharp and crisp on the palate; light dryness throughout.

This is a very, very good India pale ale. It exudes the best attributes of a west coast styled IPA. Balanced and tasty plus very easy drinking.

New Belgium Adding Corners Cherry Sour Ale, 8.8% ABV; 3.97 overall ( aged in Leopold Bros. Cherry Whiskey Barrels for 6 months

    Opens with a resounding pop!

Pours a ruddy & effervescent hazel/auburn with a pinky of tan head. Some head retention & lacing

S: Cherries, some tartness, wine barrels

T: Tart cherries, a little sweet, some barrel dryness/rawness, hints of white wine oak barrels as well up front. Cherries & white wine fighting it out, plenty of oakyness/dryness, a little leafy hop. Finishes with much dry, oaky & white wine notes, plus sweet & tart cherries

MF: Medium body, restrained carbonation, a little warming

Drinkability isn't bad, just not into sours much anymore especially in large format bottles, a reason I sat on this for a few years

    Greetings, fellow NBWers,

For the last 9 days I've been battling a headcold and periodically coughing up phlegm, but, oddly enough, it's not affected my taste buds much, so I had myself a new beer yesterday afternoon.

My first Framinghammer; I get why this beer has a following. It's a great Baltic Porter. Glad I have another in the fridge.

Twelve ounce can pours black with little head. No lacing.

Aroma and taste have a light rye lurking in the background. Despite the massive 15%+ ABV, the barrel is background only and not hot. Sorcery!

There's a myriad of flavors along with the rye - vanilla, maple, light chocolate. They mesh together well to make a sweet but not cloying flavor.

Carbonation is nearly zero. Despite this fact, mouthfeel is good and heavy.

It was a pleasure to drink sip this one. Thanks to @ChicagoJ for this gem.

    Trve Obsidian Crown Stout
    [IMG]

Twelve ounce can. Body is black with two fingers of foamy head. Good lacing.

Aroma is a lightly sweet malt.

Taste follows nose and has a faint chocolate note. No malty char, only a wisp of bitterness on finish. No sign of the 10% ABV.

The carbonation is good and mouthfeel is mid-weight and soft.

Smooth and easy drinking. Inoffensive but that’s damning with faint praise. I prefer stouts with more robust flavor.

Hopwright DIPA from AleSmith Brewing in San Diego County

Canned 03/21/2023 so we should make some allowances for such an elderly specimen. Still, it's not bad, fairly aromatic, and perfectly sippable. Flavors of peach and mango are quite distinct. Moderately sweet with that deep fruity taste like canned peaches. Dark and bitter aftertaste so you don't mind the sugar so much. Quite a mouthful and may be worth seeking out a fresh one.

odd earlier today I drank a (2023) 6 oz pour of this out of a tap at a bar in WI. I thought it was good. It didn't over power the meal I had with it. Mild barrel, medium duty overall. easy drinking and tasty. First time I've had this one.

Hey hey Jack. You speak truth. Tropiclia is a solid IPA. Funny thing, I was just in Creature Comforts on Friday night...but way out on this side of the continent. They opened a location in Los Angeles about a year ago.

    Had this, meh.
    Dreams of Dusk

Semi-hazy muted gold color. Frothy white head is firm, decent retention, and abundant lacing.
Nose is mild orange and pineapple. Hint of creaminess.
Flavor is a subdued shadow of the nose.
    Mouthfeel is there.
Overall, not inspiring me. Not bad, just not “Woohoo.”

    But finished with this...Yes!
    Peanut Stout
Pours deep and dark. Khaki head forms for a spell and slowly tapers off. Decent retention. Clumpy lacing.
Nose is a low sweetness version of cocoa, caramel, and a sublime roasted peanut note.
Flavor follows the nose nicely. Smooth and slightly sweet, the malts also have a hint of roast. Then a rich roasted peanuts meets a hint of toffee.
Mouthfeel is full, just shy of chewy. Undertone of ABV warmth contributes near the finish.
