i can send ya a mason jar of OE and 211 anyday:kissing_heart:

My main argument would be that if a beer is DRAFT ONLY and you didn't have it on site, did you REALLY REALLY have that beer? you got the tick, yes, but didn't try the actual beer as it was meant to be and thats what made it a top 250 not a mason jar shipped off.

I don't really care at end of say you tickers are a wild bunch:heavymetal:cheers

The same can be said of any canned ipa of indeterminate age or really any beer that’s been sent through the mail, especially if it’s shipped in the summer. When it comes to taking on these lists, tracking the beer down is half the fun, even if the brew isn’t in tip top shape.

I don't think so . Unless the beer traveled through death valley or someshit then i agree, but a can of IPA well within 3 months after canning is completely different than pouring something out of a glass at a taproom into a jar, driving it home, packaging it then shipping it out.

What about someone drinking a batch 1 BA Adjunct trail? It's still in the bottle as the brewer intended, but the label says drink fresh. It's been stored cold the whole time, but the beer is 6 years old. Should it count? It's not being consumed as the brewery intended? The adjuncts are definitely compromised by the age.

Also I'll give a thought provoking take on the mason jar. My pour had about 1.5-2in of air between the liquid and the jar. So yes the beer was exposed to extra amounts of oxygen for a short time. What if the liquid measured right up to the top of the jar and immediately capped? Isn't that basically a crowler?

    Just trying to provoke conversation.

this is pretty accurate. Sure I’d rather go the brewery and have it for myself. But just tracking it down is a win.

Agree and yes. If a brewery offers a draft only beer then yea, ideal place to drink it is at the brewery. But I’d certainly count a crowler….and so I’ll also count the mason jar. Also I think a stout is diff then say an ipa or Pilsner. I prob don’t want a mason jar of heady topper, but the stout is diff.

At the end of the day it’s your list your chasing, your rules. I know guys that will split a 12oz beer 8 ways at a share to get the tick. So does drinking an oz and a half of the beer count as “having that beer”? Again your chase your rules…..

drinking old and expired beer is equal to drinking expired milk.
A crowler is poured into one sterile can and sealed immediately by a machine.

A mason jar with beer has been poured from a glass . Mason jars can be faulty , even a ball jar.

What dish soap was used to clean this mason jar? that is the answer i want!

The Dawn variant is retired so it's not technically on the top 250 anymore.

Also, this list isn't my thing, but it seems like the real prize is all the weird shit you gotta go through to get them all ticked so I'd say the jar of draft only you for mailed to you is a big win and definitely counts. Would help the the look score if it came in a baby bottle like you're buying lean though

Now that you point it out, I meant howler, not crowler, but I can still see your point.

Bud, if another BA took the time to pour me some draught and send it to me overseas…..

That being said… have you been to a country if you just visited the airport bar?

Exactly! I definitely set a hard rule that I wouldn’t pay black market prices for any beers. That said, I’d never criticize someone who uses mbc to get the check in. It’s your own adventure. And a stout in a mason jar shipped same day in the winter counts way more to me than a stale ipa. First time I tracked down Alpine Exponential Hoppiness it got lost in the mail for a few weeks and a heat wave broke out. Didn’t count that swill and tracked it down again a few months later for the tick. My rules.

I use the app imgur. Then copy the link, and select the little picture of a mountain and sun. Directly under the italics button when posting.
