I haven't seen the SB much lately, but this year I will and there will be guests. I was thinking of getting some semi-sessionable lager other than a pils to offer. I don't know much about non-pils PNW lagers. Can anyone suggest a good one in the 4 - 6% abv range? Thanks!

Chuckanut Kolsch, depending on where you are, would fit the bill, as would anything from Gold Dot, Recluse,Occidental, Wayfinder or Heater Allen

A good helles lager could be just what you're looking for: Light, crisp, super drinkable, and leans towards malt rather than hops.

Here are a few options which should be easy to find:
    • Zoiglhaus Zoigl-Hell
    • Fort George Short Sands
    • Wayfinder Hell
    • Gold Dot Luxurious Helles

Also, I second the Chuckanut Kölsch recommendation that @DefenCorps made.

Good suggestions! How about Pfreim lagers? I seem to see a lot of them.

Yep. The pfreim Helles is excellent and meets your abv requirements.

All great choices that I wish I had access to across the country. Closest I am able to get is the Deschutes-brewed Costco Lager, which would also fit the bill here.

My local Fred Meyers had none of your recommended beers. I bought Pfreim Lager, which met the abv criterion at 5%. It did the trick, though it tasted kind of like an enhanced AAL.

The recommendations are not wasted. I'll keep an eye out for all of them. Many thanks

If you saw the SB, I'd be curious to hear what you were drinking.

I've been getting pFriem's Japanese Lager with some frequency lately. It's very easy-drinking, lower ABV and inexpensively available at pretty much all grocery outlets. I had a couple yesterday with massive amounts of snacking. Recommended!

I think that's pretty much what it is, although I believe it's all malt (no adjuncts added). As you probably noticed, it has the same abv. as bud and the boys. That's probably not a coincidence.

Apologies for that. I answered your original post without checking to see where you were writing from. If I'd bothered to do that, I wouldn't have recommended Zoiglhaus or Wayfinder, since I'm not sure what kind of distribution they have in Washington.

That said, I'm kind of surprised that Freddie's didn't have Fort George Short Sands.

They did have it. I forgot it was on the list. Freddie did have Zoigelhaus Pills.

No need for anyone to apologize for recommendations. I'm glad to have them.

My Fred Meyers offers any RIS you want as long as it's Old Rasputin; any German import as long as it's Bitburger Pils; and any Belgian style as long as it's Fat Tire Trippel.
