I totally agree and then I think from all I tried Franziskaner is my top pick: it is widely available, quite affordable and more easy to drink, to pair and yet at least as enjoyable as some of the top compitetor Weißenbiers.

Pliney the Younger [IMG]. The day as finally arrived. Grateful to try a top 20 BA beer. Enjoying this pour at 595 Craft and Kitchen in Las Vegas, NV. Rainbow and Trop. Almost booked a trip in years past for the fest, amazed to see it here locally.

Just got back from my annual VA eye exam, no change in my prescription and all is looking good.

Only problem is my eyes are still pretty dilated so they ain't focusing all that well at the moment.

Austin Brewing Smoked Brown Ale - this stuff is quite good.

Posting a bit earlier than usual on here … but sometimes you just want a lunchtime beer, you know? This is a triticale schwarzbier from Bizarre Brewing — very good indeed.

Also: can you beat snow on the ground plus a bright blue sky? It’s, like, my favorite thing!

Another vote for Franziskaner here! Weihenstephaner is great, too, but if I had to choose a #1 hefeweizen it’d be Franziskaner for sure.

    Good Afternoon Advocates.

Finally forced fresher stock with local distro. 2mos fresher than the Urqs I had yesterday.

But, at 3mos since bottling, a far cry from the freshest I've obtained (~6wks old).

Thankfully the quality change is almost imperceptible, but fresher always better.

I'd imagine @gatornation must be into Sept/Oct BB stock nowadays.

    Cheers BAs!

    1) New Glarus Gyrator (7.3%): A Doppelbock from Wisconsin with flavors of caramel, brown sugar, hints of bourbon.
    versus
    2) Capital Brewing Dark Doppelbock (7.8%): A Doppelbock from Wisconsin with flavors of brown bread, caramel, brown sugar, and toasted notes. (Mismatched the two beers blind)

Wisconsin Doppelbock Battle. First is New Glarus Gyrator, the #6 rated doppelbock on BeerAdvocate. Smooth caramel, and shows the booze and sweetness a bit. Sweet, but a bit flat.
Next is Capital Brewing. A bit more flavor here. More caramel, brown sugar, and toasted notes. Better carbonation and more dynamic and flavorful overall. Surprised by this outcome, but I liked Capital Brewing much better than New Glarus in this one.
    Winner: Capital Brewing Dark Doppelbock

Enjoying Griddle, annual fall imperial milk stout from Burial as a dessert beer after lunch out earlier. The char and coffee balance the lactose and malt sweetness very well. Listening to Pop Rocks on Sirius.
