    HAPPY FRIDAY to everyone!
I'm still up with Super Ultra Friends In Real Life -- supposed to be an Italian Pilsner — from Ogopogo Brewing in San Gabriel.

Pleasant whiff of something green and leafy in the hop department. Lively and prickly on the tongue. Starts with some malt and cereal taste. Flavor becomes resiny as you sip. I could not possibly say what distinguishes this from other American and German style Pilsners, but it's quite appealing. A fine quaff with malty sweetness and a bitter aftertaste that leaves you wanting more.

    Good morning everyone, Advocates.
This is a fresh hop IPA from a renowned agricultural brewery with production headquarters in the Veneto Region in Northern Italy, but with hops grown on their farm on the mountain slopes of Monte Tiburno, in the Campania Region (Southern Italy), at their "Tenuta SOLOFRANA" (where their vineyards of the "Coda di Volpe" winery are also located) located 35km from the sea, at an altitude ranging from 325 to 650 meters above sea level.

Birrificio Agricolo CRAK (Campodarsego, ITA) - GIANT STEP VERDE - Fresh Hop IPA (7.5%).

It's the version using freshly picked flowering hops of their award-winning 7.5% Ipa ("Guerrilla IPA") which is characterized by a fruity entrance that slowly fades into a more intense herbaceous one and then ends with a pleasant resinous bitter note, which leaves room for a more fruity aftertaste (exotic and summer fruit and citrus).

33 cl can (new format, until September 2024 their cans were only 44 cl) €5 at the beershop.
As soon as it was opened, it immediately revealed citrus notes and freshly cut wild grass, balsamic nuances.
When poured, it's a beautiful deep golden color, with orange reflections and not excessively opaque.
A finger of foam of little consistency is released with a vertical pour and remains there without disappearing on its own.
In the mouth, a medium-bodied beer in which the malty notes are perceived at the entrance, to then give way to these dense nuances that pass from citrus peel (grapefruit, cedar, red orange) to more herbaceous and woody notes (pine needles, freshly cut grass), to end with a bitter note that is not invasive, but very noticeable.
I liked the fragrance that conveyed a sense of freshness of the product, the fruitiness left in the background by more "old-fashioned" tastes and the bitter herbaceous note that remains on the tongue after drinking.
Yet another good beer from this brewery, the only flaw noted: a more lively carbonation would have helped, but by now I'm used to the fact that this element differs between their packaged beers and those tapped from their kegs.

    Ciao @mactrail,
I just wanted to enlighten you with a disconcerting truth.
Quoting the Advocate @Crusader (from Sweden), in reality everything that you mean as "Italian Pils" already existed for at least a century before (but even more, come on), as reported
"A Swedish encyclopedia year 1894 (- not better specified, but certainly reliable as per great ecyclopedic tradition-) :
"2) the bohemian type (pilsner), of weakly kilned malt with a rich addition of hops usually not only during the boil, but also during the fermentation in the fermentation or lager cellar: a pale, easy drinking, hop-bitter beer with vineous taste".
And consider that already the esteemed "Ernst Hantke (Handbuch für den Amerikanische brauer und mälzer, 1895) wrote on page 587:
"For some beers, which should have a strong hop flavor and aroma such as Pilsener beer, one adds fresh good hops in a sack together with the kräusen into the beer."................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. Incredible, but true.
Don't thank me, it's just a duty to inform in case you missed the Swedish encyclopedia from 1894.
Everything you mean by Italian Pils is just a commercial issue... I learned it here too (for free) from a Poo-Bah.
And now I have one more certainty in my life.

Moved on to the Hawley Arms. Not really known for its beer but more for the clientele. Amy Winehouse was a regular among many other music icons.

Pint of some rebadged Greene King Cask.

Good morning, BAs! Officially on weekend. Planning a trip to Fox Farm in just a little bit. After a productive morning, decided to share some Chocolate Salty BBLS with my partner (umm ... yeah).

Pic snapped before breaking out brunch ingredients: scrambled eggs with cheddar, gouda, ham, jalapeño, and hot sauce.

    Cheers!

Edit: forgot it's also Horns Up Friday! ((c) @beerjerk666 ) Then this popped into my feed and reminded me. :grinning:
