Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Wheatwine Ale (2019)



Not as enjoyable as when I enjoyed the same vintage in 2022. Just too sweet and strong to really enjoy, a sticky syrupy malt-bomb with a bourbon sidecar.

 

Happy Friday ba. We had to take Boat to the vet for vitamin B12 and fluids and he is finally gaining some weight back. Me and my wife came to la costenita Mexican for a birria pizza and more. I got a Sycamore mountain candy ipa.

Great ipa as usual. Feels like Amarillo, Simcoe, citra hops. Very juicy, dank, resinous west coast finish. Very clean balanced citrus and stone fruit hop flavors. Minimal hop astringency on finish.

Dammit! I was hoping for a first hand account. I love a good Dark Mild and their Tiddly is excellent. I image the cask version is heaven. Maybe next time.

This fresh brew from Noble Savage is Great Devotions Peach and passionfruit hop influences dominate. Cheers!

 

Just picked up a bottle of this 2 weeks ago at my old local in PHX and for this 2019 edition i was surprised at how prominent the barrel was which was able to balance the huge malt base and impart lovely vanilla tannins. My bottle was a drink by 08SEP24. Update my score (from the 2018 edition) to 4.4.

Just came back from a short (6 miles) night trail run that was organized near the place where I'm staying. Shorts in the background, but it really is just 0 Celcius / 32 Fahrenheit here.
