Stonecloud Brewing Nite Dark Lager, 5.3% ABV; 4.04 overall

Pours an effervescent Chestnut/mahogany with one finger of tan head. Above average head retention & very nice lacing

S: Roasty, brown bread, nose could be more

T: Pretty roasty, woody hops, dry with a faint amount anise up front, faint jammy notes as well. Dry & roasty, with a little black currant in addition woody hops as this beer warms up. Finishes a little roasty, dry with a little gooseberry & currant mix & woody hops

    MF: Medium body, moderate carbonation

Good take on the style, drinks easy on a cold winter's night

Conway's Irish Stout by Great Lakes Brewing Company. 4.8%

Poured from a 12 ounce can, the body is dark opaque black with fluffy slightly off white head. Good lacing.

Aroma is a roasty malt and coffee mix.

Taste follows nose as the roasty malt and coffee flavors continue adding a solid malty base. Finish is very dry and a flash of earthy hop.

Mouthfeel is light and things dry up quickly. Carbonation started fine, but dropped off quickly.

A good take on a dry Irish stout.

16oz can served in a curvy Monhegan pint glass. Canned 11/12/24. Bought it at Chuck's Hop Shop yesterday.

Pours crystal clear light yellow-gold with a medium sized head and plenty of active carbonation. Smell is grainy with a lemony background, floral and grassy.

Taste is sweet grain tea with a little lemon zest, grassy bitterness is a bit stronger in the taste than it was in the aroma.

Mouthfeel is light and smooth. Nice beer.

    Can’t believe I haven’t rated this before.
This one is from 2022, been in my cellar since.
Used to buy these by the 4 pack. Liked them better than their BA Imperial Stout: Love Shadow. Seriously, that’s what they called it.
The pour is golden amber with a taaall beige head that left sparse lacing.
The taste, well, is excellent. Caramel wrapped raisins and some flowery yeast.
Don’t drink as many of these as I used to, I think it might be time to start again. These are really good.
The feel is viscous, darned near chewy.
OA, I think I might buy another 4 pack.

Stonecloud Brewing Extra Extra Extra Sandwich Imperial Hazy IPA (w/ Citra, Citra Cryo & Idaho#7 hops ), 9.0 % ABV; 4,09 overall

Pours a at first bright then slightly hazed & effervescent gold/honey color with a thumb of eggshell colored head, a few floaties. Average head retention & a little better lacing

S: Tangerine, green melon, passion fruit & guava. Peaches once the beer is warmed up,

T: Oranges, limes, a touch of pineapple, plus passion fruit & some cryo hop dryness up front. Plenty of citrus, some acidic/sweet pineapple & no real dryness, a touch of pink grapefruit surfaces also. Finishes a little dry with pink grapefruit, lime & pineapple

MF: Medium body, some acidity, moderate carbonation

Great drinkability, dangerous DIPA here, just doesn't hit the benchmarks for greatness

Lowercase and Hildegard - Pastoral Pale Lager, "German pale lager" at 4.9%

16oz can served in a curvy Monhegan pint glass. Canned 01/01/25. Bought it at Chuck's Hop Shop yesterday.

Pours clear yellow gold with a big head, lots of slow active carbonation. Head settles into a wispy layer with chunky lacing. Smell is bubblegum. Melon. Soft fruits. A little honey and grain.

Taste is a bit of saison funk and earthiness, a little woody tannins, fruit from the smell are still there but toned down and hiding behind some earthy bitterness. Lemon is more clearly noticeable.

Mouthfeel is very light and dry with a moderate prickle. Overall, very tasty beer.

T freshly baked bread carries juicy orange, spices, and smooth honey-esque character from the belgian golden sugar, really tasty
Mf med bodied, med carb, suites the style well, has juiciness, but also a touch dry
    O really enjoyable tripel

Have a good Monday, Haven't reviewed all weekend, but I have been uploading reviews from BA and backlog copypasta in WBAYDN. I will crest 10k before the end of the week. I got a lot more to go and then I have to get place reviews done lol.

IP mini trade with @GreenBayBA and its been in my fridge for a while. Hop Butcher Cosmic Glow. 4/25/23 canning. Beautifully turbid DIPA. Lasting head retention and thick soapy lacing. Aromas of big red grapefruit, mandarin orange juice, lemon, lime, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, pear, cedar, peppercorn, cannabis, pine, wheat, white bread dough, and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Taste follows through with red grapefruit, mandarin orange juice, lemon, lime, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, plum, pear, blueberry, white grape/wine, cedar, mint, cannabis, peppercorn, pine, wheat, white bread dough, and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Light-medium pine, citrus rind, woody, minty bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body. Balanced creamy/bready malt and sticky hop mouthfeel. Lingering resin dryness, with minimal lingering hop astringency. Amazing showcase of Citra, Rakau, Waimea, and Mosaic hops; this held up insanely well. Balanced super juicy and dank/earthy hops; with a great soft hazy mouthfeel. Top tier NEDIPA. 4.42/5

BIF from @FBarber, thanks. Pollyanna Das Ist Kellerbier. A fantastic amber keller lager. Lasting dense head retention and soapy lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big caramel, brown bread/crust, toast, nuttiness, pine, cedar, wood, citrus peel, herbal, grass, and light coffee/roast. Medium pine, citrus rind, herbal, woody bitterness on the finish. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium body; balanced bready/grainy malt and sticky hop mouthfeel. Fairly crisp, clean, refreshing finish. Lingering resin dryness with no hop astringency. Perfectly clean lager flavors with no fruity/yeasty flavors. A very robust lager in flavor with balanced clean/rich vienna/munich malt complexity, and balanced noble hops. 4.27/5

Pretty fresh Trillium after work. I should've savored this one more but I'm still breaking in my new wok and it was a shit show. It's not my highest review ever but I think I scored it poorly bc the cooking changed the aroma too much. This and the Fat Heads NEIPA I shared with my GF yesterday (alongside an AWFUL sandwich) are starting off a streak of monster IPAs I hope continues the rest of this month. Review below.

Dated 01/07/25, into a wide wine glass.

Pours a rich pale yellow with ample foam. Super hazy. Aroma is white wine funk with a lot of signature Trillium dankness and surprising bitter grapefruit. Some pulpy tropical fruit as well. Flavor is very interesting. Heavy on the Nelson, of course, which expresses as potent white grape and papaya, but there's an extremely fresh vegetal note present that's really impressive. The honey comes through without adding any sweetness, and there's a really interesting malt note appearing on the finish. It wraps up dry, but not bitter. No residual sweetness but barely bitter except on the very long end. The honey is interesting and I think it adds a lot here. The mouthfeel is nice and smooth, but the body is extremely light and it's dangerously drinkable.

Between the incredible drinkability, potent and complex hop flavors, and excellent balance, this beer was worth the stupid price I paid for it. Trillium did some magic here, and I was lucky to find this can as fresh as it was, since it's so hard to find their beers even months old. I will continue to hunt and will NOT be sharing the place I found this and many other fresh cans.
