In MTL, Messorem is a must. I also really like Poincare in Chinatown. Lagers off the Lukr & kölsch service off the Kranz.

Great suggestions so far, both Emporium and Mesorem are great. I would add Noctem in Quebec as well.

Bottle shops or specialty depanneurs will sell a wide selection of Quebec beers too if that's of interest. Be wary of canning dates though. Definitely recommend Bas Canada, 5e baron and a la derive from the Gatineau area. Sir John, Beauregard are solid too

Wow thanks the Poincare was off my radar, looks awesome. Heard the area is more known for Belgians but I am always down for lager

Went to Messorem 3 times and got lucky with parking each time! Oh, and the beer was phenomenal.

    Quebec City

    Nano Cinco is top notch.

Took the ferry to Levis (easy, fun) and was surprised at how good Le Corsaire was. Both the food and the beer. Had a great Scotch Ale.

We visited 2 La Souche locations. Both have great beer and food. And vibe.

We went to the Stoneham location after visiting Jacque-Carti National Park (Parc national de la Jacques-Carti). And, if you're into pastries, the Stoneham location is next to the best bakery in the world, Pascal Le Boulanger.

We also visited the Quebec City location for lunch. Lively.

Quebec City sunrise (and the Fairmont Hotel) from the Citadel.

Might be late here, but nevertheless…

Some favourites - not yet mentioned - around Montréal and surrounding area if you can travel a bit.

BreWskey in Old Montréal if you like hazy IPAs and fruited sours. Not quite as good as Messorem to my tastes, but pretty close.

Mellon. Very good beer all round. IPAs and lagers in particular.

    Silo. Excellent lagers. Underrated spot.

I’ve heard Wills is good, but haven’t been yet.

North of the city is Ayawan. My favourite Québec brewery outside of Bas Canada in Gatineau. Beautiful spot and fantastic beer. Up there with Bas Canada and Messorem for hazy IPAs from what I have tried.

Also, not in the city but sometimes available at bottle shops, Bas Canada (best stout and IPA brewer in Canada). Sir John, good IPAs, sours and stouts.

Unlikely to find in the city, but if you see anything from Auval, it is worth grabbing.

Great information! It looks like I'll be visiting Montreal more frequently starting in August. I will definitely visit Messorem.

QC so far has been great too. Working our way through the recs. One place to shout out though is Bateau de Nuit! Beer bar that rocks with people who care deeply about beer. The wife even likes it

I'll be headed back to Montreal month. I'm wondering if anyone has recommendations on places that have cask ale in Montreal? I've been to Montreal a bunch of times. Usually do most of my drinking at Dieu De Ciel. Sometimes Dieu De Ciel has a cask, but I'm wondering if there are other places that have it as well.

It’s been a bit for me, but l’Amère a Boire used to have a cask or two.

If you are willing to drive a bit, go to Brasserie Albion in Joliette. An under-appreciated gem that makes great English style beers, including occasionally, historical beers like Burton ale. They usually have a couple in cask - currently a porter and a mild. Great brewery for lovers of English style beer
