A HUGE thanks to @Braunmeister_1943 for this one! St. Seditious from 2SP Brewing in Pennsylvania.

Pours a nice murky brown with almost no head. The nose is wonderful. Rich caramel, slight grassy hops, figs, and a nice nutty layer.

The taste is equally wonderful. A really fantastic mix of toffee and citrus peel bitterness. Leather, candied sugar, raisins, pie crust, every so slight maple, brown sugar, and a grassy note. Not really getting the nutty note that appeared on the nose. Very drinkable and super smooth.

The mouthfeel is relatively light with a really nice aftertaste. Lovely beer!

I’m glad you’re enjoying it, Tim! I really like it, too. It reminds me of an English-style barleywine.

Boulevard Carrot Cake BBA Belgian-Style Strong Ale, 12.2% ABV. I rated this 3.97 in October. Per the OP, Strong ales are cool in this thread.

Packing a box for my BIF target. Those BCBS cylinder boxes work great for shipping bottles. Redacted labels and part of my cellar in the background.

Jealous, hoping we get at least the Ice variant in distribution.

2023 Copestone from Fox Farm. This has a ‘peaty’ note that I don’t remember. Cheers

Port barrel Old Numbskull from Alesmith. Had a short pour with a buddy earlier, having another now.

I wasn't sure about a marriage between American barleywine and port barrels but this is magnificent. Lots of caramel with slightly burnt, bitter edges come through from the base beer. The port barrels add some subtle fruit notes, plums, red raspberries, and of course, lots of port. I also get leather and tobacco. So damn good.

    I did a 2018-2021 vertical recently, and
I actually thought the same thing. I normally get the borderline double IPA vibes fresh, but this year it seems in line with just a hoppy barleywine. For some reason it hadn't been distributed in my area since 2021, but I figured only drinking aged versions for the passed few years would have the opposite effect in my perception.

This is basically a hoppy barleywine. A big thanks to @Resistance88 for handing this over in an IP trade. As one would imagine (as does my memory), this is a hoppy beast. Most grapefruit peel bitterness with a mild sweetness. Cheers!

the Anvil and Stave label bottles from them are absolute GOD TIER, but the ~50 price tag they Usually have keeps me from ever buying any.
The Imperial Stout releases they have under this label and bottle format are always 5/5..the one thing that makes me consider the membership

Cross posted from the Cellaruary thread:

2010 North Coast Old Stock Ale.

My last bottle from that year, in my cellar since fresh. Rich malt flavors that are nice, especially at cellar temperature. Raisin, caramel, a little plum and tobacco.

Not sure if this is a barleywine or old ale or somewhere betwixt. The barrel is prominent in the nose but blended nicely in the taste. Glad I tried this one.
