What Beer Are You Drinking Now? #4516

1) Toppling Goliath Fire, Skulls, & Money (7.8% canned 11/8/24): A NEIPA from Iowa with Citra, Mosaic, Galaxy, and Nelson for flavors of grapefruit and orange citrus flower, Fire vinous white grape, gooseberry with some pine and berry to balance. Juicy, complex, and clean. (Correctly matched the two blind)
versus
2) Phase Three Chrome (7.8% no canning date): A NEIPA from Chicago with Vic Secret, Citra, Motueka & Mosaic for flavors of grapefruit, lime guava, pineapple, sweet green grape. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Toppling Goliath vs Phase Three IPA Battle. First is Toppling Goliath FS&M. The best Toppling Goliath IPA IMO. Amazing balance of hops and Nelson flavors. Past it's time, but still drinking fantastic, just not quite as robust as when fresh.
Next is a fresh release from Phase Three, Chrome. Some nice Vic Secret and Moteuka, which seems to becoming more popular. Soem nice grapefruit, lime, guava, pineapple, and sweet green grape flavors. Robust, yet complex flavor. Nice hop blend with the Vic Secret and Moteuka atop a Cira and Mosaic base. This is outstanding. FS&M is the GOAT, but finally age caught up and fresh Phase Three is the best of the best.
Winner: Phase Three Chrome

 

An impressive “embiggening” by Bell’s of their own flagship. I still prefer the original, but this is a more than “cromulent” nod to it’s lineage.

Happy Saturday ba. Weekend engaged. Into it here w/ Mofosaic, single hop mosaic ipa, sand city. Crazy smooth and clean with a mix of tropical fruit - mango, mixed berries, & pineapple- and a nice subtle dank note throughout. Somehow I forgot how good this was,

My first impression is that it is their weakest album, but time will tell.

 

Nothing too erotic for us Euros, but yeah you are probably right.

 

Suarez Family - Proclivity (Pineapple Sage Country Beer).

 

This is my last beer until tonight's Zoom gathering. It is a good one. It is very cold and windy today. I will be watching WWE Elimination Chamber while we meet tonight. It should be an enjoyable evening.

 

Surly Abrasive (9.2% canned 10/9/2024): An Imperial IPA from Minnesota with Citra hops for flavors of orange citrus rind, green pine, smooth orange and caramel with a strong bitterness.

Long overdue to drink the last one of these, but a World-Class West-Coast DIPA from Surly. Bitter, citrusy, and sweet caramel notes similar to Furious. Holding up surprisingly well for the age. I am hoping Stone releases Ruination soon, because some fresh Ruination is really the only west-coast IPA that can fix this void.
