Hope everyone is having a great Sunday. Imperial Stout is Life cross-post.
Vanilla Coffee Bourbon Barrel Dark Apparition Imperial Stout from Jackie O’s.

Poured from a 12.7 oz bottle into a tulip, thick, opaque black with a quickly fading tan head leaving just a thin line of bubbles around the perimeter of the glass.

Nose is dark roast fresh brewed coffee at first. As it opens up the sweeter scents of vanilla and bourbon blend in nicely rounding out with some oaky barrel. This beer smells fantastic.

First trip across the pallet is dark bitter chocolate, black coffee and bourbon. Not much vanilla on first pull, but it’s there. Not sure if the bitterness is coming from the base beer or the additions, but I really dig it–no cloying sweetness sometimes found in these big beers. No noticeable bottling date but guessing this is pretty fresh.

Mouthfeel is chewy, viscous and smooth, really not much alcohol detected for a 13.9% Stout.

Overall, this is an excellently executed beer. Thanks a ton, @Blogjackets for allowing me an opportunity to enjoy this!

Having a Harpoon Lager. Just got a pot of San Marzano arrabiata spaghetti sauce underway. Plenty of garlic and Calabrian chilies added for heat. Meatballs are in the oven and will be introduced to the sauce shortly.

Hey Andy I told my wife your AV boy story and she said a kid in her school did something pretty similar except he scratched things on peoples crotches using a magnifier glass . He had a very short AV boy career. Cheers.

I graduated with AV guy honors and even made out w a GFriend in the AV room! Ha!
The life jacket...a gift from the wife for my bar "El Kabong" where it's always happy hour. It's from an old fire brigade rescue tug named William A. Lydon. Google it as it has some history.

1) Half Acre Ridge Tree (4.5%): A Czech Dark Lager from Chicago with flavors of dark malt, cocoa, light roast. Clean.
versus
2) Arbeiter Nacht Rider (4.9%): A German Schwarzbier from Minnesota with flavors of dark chocolate, grains, smooth cocoa. Clean. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Dark Lager Battle. First is Half Acre Ridge Tree, a Czech Dark Lager. Dark cocoa, smooth chocolate, mild roast. Balanced.
Next is Arbeiter Nacht Rider. A German Schwarzbier with dark chocolate and roasted flavors.
Both are excellent in their respective styles. A slight win to Arbeiter because it's spot on for the style and not all Schwarzbiers are.
Winner: Arbeiter Nacht Rider
