New one for me and for the database, my first associated with Burgeon; decent, if unremarkable - cheers!

Packaged on 2/5/2025; enjoyed on 3/2/2025 - poured from a pint can into my Dogfish Head shaped pint glass.

Not quite clear amber body with a papaya whip cap. Very good retention; sticky/soapy lacing.

Gentle citrus/woodsy aroma with hints of orange blossom and evergreen. Delicate if not subdued.

Linear flavor profile with poached pear, tangerine, and hints of pine. Mild, slightly herbal bitterness. Lightly earthy, medium-dry finish with some residual malty sweetness.

Silky, not-quite-crisp mouthfeel with even carbonation.

Good WCIPA, though perhaps better paired with food.

Great Divide Yeti. it has been a while since I had this one!

Poured from a 12 oz can into a DFH Goblet Glass

The beer pours black with no visible highlights and a tan head that slowly recedes leaving behind a small crown and lots of sticky lacing.

The aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, and coffee with some burnt/charred notes. There is also a hint of hop bitterness lurking in the background

The flavor, like the aroma, is roasted malts, chocolate, and coffee. There is also an underlying piney hop bitterness. The beer is full bodied and moderately carbonated.

Overall this is a solid example of the style

Vida Oro Mexican Lager with Lime from Beachwood Brewing in Long Beach, Calif.
Aroma is all lime all the time, but very agreeable. Spritzy and a little sharp in the mouth. The lime seems to be the only thing that gives this much of any flavor. The hops are just a smooth bittering agent. Really, it's just something beery with a nice squeeze of the green stuff. Goes down easy and it's a pleasant citrus taste.

Purchased at Wegmans, no understandable date, pours golden amber with a downy froth head that reduces to sticky lacing on the glass.
Aroma is outstanding peach, passion fruit. Smell is my weakest sense and so when I can vividly pick up aroma I am very excited.
Taste is peachy Now and Laters, sweet tangerine, pineapple.
There is minor smacky, sticky sweet and savory bitterness. It’s very good. StrangeBird is a great up and comer brewery in Rochester.
    Solid recommend!

Red Rock Drioma Russian Imperial Stout, 10.1% ABV. Pours dark black with a nice 4-finger light-brown head that left a cup of foam. Aroma is roasty malt, taste follows, lots of char, moderately bitter. Excellent dry mouthfeel, overall excellent.

On tap at Perla in Santa Ana.
Beautiful light amber in hue. Silky fluff of white foam approaches 2 fingers. Slowly settles to a thin film. Good retention with clumpy clouds of lacing.
Nose is a tad subdued. Mild notes citrus and malt.
Flavor is a tight delivery of both citrusy and piney notes and honey. Maybe not totally traditional, but really good.
Mouthfeel is medium. Light carbonation. Finish is a tad dry in the bitterness.
    Really enjoyable.

I needed one more new beer that would be an absolute home run. I chose wisely.

Incredibly rich on the palate. A mouthfeel that literally could not be improved. Notes of chocolate, bourbon, oak, vanilla, brown sugar, molasses, oak, syrup, and toast.

Hit another. But this one is north of the border.

    Inline IPA

Beautiful beer on tap. A silky head forms with 2 fingers in elevation before settling into a solid finger high cap.
Nose pumps lemony zest and orange rind. A gently sweet malt note cones through as well.
Flavor follows the nose with a solid play of zesty citrus and gentle malt. The mouthfeel almost goes in a direction of hazy.
    Overall pretty solid.

    “On Sunday’s we drink Barleywines”
At least according to @Dimidiata, and I have a difficult time disagreeing.
Sent to me by @DIM in the 2nd Stout and Barleywines BIF.
I’ve sent these out several times but never actually tried them.
    Fool I. This is outstanding.
The pour is uninspiring, murky brown with a barely there manilla colored head. Lacing? Please. No. I think there is one minuscule bit of lace and that’s it.
The taste though doesn’t need no lacing. Oh my.
Fair disclosure, I drink mostly stouts, which on paper (so to speak) similar in cross section to Barleywine. But this is no stout.
Sheer malty goodness with bourbon and oak and caramel and vanilla and more caramel.
    On and on and on.
If this wasn’t 15% I’d want a pint at least. Really good.
The feel is viscous, like the very description of viscous. Smooth and thick, not chewy at all, just smooth.
OA, I can’t promise I’ll ever send another one of these out. I want them all.
Thank you @DIM for encouraging me to finally try one myself.

Cross-posting from the ISB BIF #2: was in the mood for something crisper, so this Stonecloud Brewing Barleywine Lips from @russpowell seemed to be the answer. The thing says “straight up Barleywine,” so one really can’t mistake its intentions.

This is nice. An almost floral quality to the nose. Pours a slightly murky amber, pulling a hearty head, and leaves loads of lacing. The flavor is very smooth. No harsh hops, sweet malts with an almost butterscotch element in the middle. Mouthfeel is creamy and medium-full. 8% is human level ABV. Problematically, I have quaffed its entirety while writing this. Buttery smooth. A six pack wouldn’t last a minute.

Now I’m rethinking if the Stone RIS is a good follow up, or if I should find something more genteel, more demure…

Love Potion #9 from Block 15. Stout with chocolate, and raspberries. Got this beer from @snaotheus in the barleywine/stout BIF. A big thanks for sending this one!!

Poured at fridge temp. Pours pitch black with a solid inch and a half of light brown head. The nose is literally as described. Chocolate covered raspberries! Also picking up other fruit, like cherries. A touch of vanilla as well.

The taste is interesting. I like the individual notes, but I can't help but think a couple of flavors are clashing here. I get the chocolate, raspberry, but then a bitter roasty/woody note. It's this and the raspberry that combine to form a burnt raspberry type taste. Definitely different! Mild sweetness overall, with complimentary notes of vanilla, coffee grounds, and a slight cough syrup note. A bit tart as well.

Light mouthfeel and a fruity aftertaste. A very interesting beer! Glad I got to try it! Thanks so much, Ryan!

Cross posted with Barleywine appreciation thread. Didnt know the SUnday rule @Dimidiata or @Whyteboar , but lets go!
Tonight I am sampling Suarez family brewing and their Poets Walk barleywine. 10.6% ABV and aged for quite some time in barrels and also undergoing refermentation in the bottle. Beer was sent to me in a trade, but Im bad at tracking the sender, maybe @Xerlic ? Either way, thank you to my trade partner

    onto my review:
I am sampling a cellar temp 375 ml bottle poured into a snifter. Ive had the beer for aabout 1.5 years
The beer pours a clear yet very dark mahogany with rich garnet highlights in the glass. A dense creamy beige head foams up about 0.5 cm and fades to a sturdy edging soon after the pour. Leaves some scattered lattice on swirls or sips.
Aroma is fruity , malty and a little funky. I get some brown sugar and some raisin notes with a little bit of a musty blanket note and definitely some pipe tobacco notes too. Not hoppy nor boozy at all. Interesting nose on this beer.
First sip reveals a very smooth texture with pretty full body and fine gentle carbonation. Texture is a little sticky on my palate with some light coating. The carbonation actually totally dissipates quickly if I hold the beer in my mouth. No boozy warmth on this one.
Flavor is very rich, lots of fruit with raisin and figs with some brown sugar and a bit of a cherry note comes through on the finish. Generally a pretty sweet beer, but definitely note cloying. Finish dries out a bit too, encouraging me to take another sip.
this is a complex brew that I am enjoying quite a bit, glad to have had the chance to taste this one!
