I am hosting a large party this weekend and since Guinness kegs are virtually impossible to obtain in these parts, I am going with Forged. The kegs have not been delivered, so I cannot see for myself, but the distributor thinks the kegs take an American Sankey D coupling. This seems strange to me, as I would assume it takes a U, like Guinness, Harp etc. Does anyone have experience with this? I cannot screw this up.
I would think that would be the same type as Guinness as well...though the one caveat to that is...Forged is the Conor McGregor brand (I only found that out by doing a quick Google search just now ha). Maybe, just maybe whatever marketing team they have took into account the standard US type?? This might be to late for you, but I'll most likely stop at my local bottle shop this weekend. The owner sells a lot of different kind of kegs, and the couplings and equipment. I'll ask and maybe he knows...sorry this doesn't help much ha.
I asked, from what he told me, the Guinness coupling is more specific to the Guinness brands. Its not impossible that other Irish breweries use that type, but not as common. He is not familiar with Forged as a brand or the keg, so he doesn't know for sure. Though, he has reason to believe it is the regular US coupling. Take that for what it is, and hope that helps.
As per the keg collar, the beer is made for US consumption by Left Hand and thus uses the American sankey.
