What beer are you drinking now? #4523

...well, I have long forgotten about winsock fix attempts, but I did uninstall the card and driver in device manager -- that didn't work...checks of the wifi card showed it 'working properly'...not even doing a restore point (that actually worked a few days prior) nor a network reset...what was neat was doing the Dell reset...their backup actually retained my Firefox bookmarks (although I backed those up, along with my Thunderbird address books - which didn't restore)...and SFC and DISM checks didn't indicate any Windows issues...nope, something bizarro -- sometimes it's easier just to reinstall things (I opted out of replacing my M2 backup drive although I do have that in case a hardware replacement is my final solution...

...while still somewhat leery of cloud storage, it has been a godsend for keeping personal files available, too...

...one piece of hardware I need to acquire is an ethernet to Thunderbolt adapter...this is my first laptop without ethernet or a CD / DVD reader/recorder...anyway, I figure being able to connect my laptop to my router in the future may come in handy...plus, I just like PC gadget doo-dads...

Well, an older import beer and beyond its 'best by' date, yet decent enough for a strong pale lager.

 

...yes, bottom line, I'm up and running, all programs freshly installed, all personal files back in place...

...I can't complain too much...resolving computer issues does drive me to drink (sounds like a W.C. Fields joke)...
