Otherlands has announced they're dropping a Marzen Saturday that's been horizontally fermented for 13 weeks. Here's the cut n paste from FB:

    "
This Saturday, March 1st marks the second coming of our new annual tradition: the release of our once-a-year Märzen lager, “First Flowers.”
What’s so special about this slightly stronger (5.6%!) German-style amber lager? Well, it’s been lagering away in one of our horizontal lagering tanks at 0C since mid November!
Why would we do something so absurd? Well, there’s an old, and seemingly outdated German brewing principle that recommends one week of lagering for every 1°P of the pre-fermentation wort. For a 13° Plato beer that’s exactly what we gave it! The result is a lager with an astoundingly smooth mouthfeel, round body, and a robust yet delicate malt flavor. While we don’t have the time to apply this method to every beer we brew, we think this devotion to very old school methods makes “First Flowers” something special.
We’ll be celebrating the release of our Märzen and the beginning of March (get it?) with freshly filled gravity kegs of “First Flowers” all day Saturday. Come and get some while you can: despite 13 weeks of lagering it will be gone before you know it!"

Bottles are available at Belmont Station today, along with Damen Pils and Brighten the Corners helles lager.

Hope I get the chance to try those. I need more Otherlands beers in my life.

Wander just posted on FB that they're re-releasing a series of Belgian styles, from when they opened. The first, a Dubbel, is dropping today.

Guess I know what I'm doing Sunday.

Hmmmm... curious as to how Douglas Lager is doing for them. I've yet to see it available down here... but then again, it's not something I've been looking for. Do they have their own brewery now, or are they still contract brewing at some other facility? I assume it's still being made some place in Tacoma (per their website). The Beervana article mentioned Seven Seas at one point.

Seven Seas has an enormous facility -- they certainly have the capacity for that kind of contract brew.

I see Douglas around here in the Lynnwood area. The Kwik-E-Mart near my house has 6-packs of cans, and I've seen bottles around as well. Admittedly not as widespread as, like, Bodhizafa or Lucille, but definitely more widespread than any Lowercase-branded product.

An online search shows Douglas is now being brewed at Talking Cedar brewery. Talking Cedar is the tribal owned brewery that is located next to their casino and indoor water park off of I-5 north of Centralia.
Best of luck to them. They have a lot of territory to add to start competing with Rainier.

Did Lowercase have their own brewing facility? Could they take all the Douglas brewing in house now?

Hmmm, Garden Path is dropping a 5 year blend at the end of the month. I work until 10 that night, and have to be back at 6am the next day, but I'll get there quick as I can. From FB:

"Mark your calendars for something amazing! On March 29, we'll be releasing our baby: The Spontaneous Ferment 5-Year Anniversary Blend, a beer that's been 7 years in the making. The tap list is going to be killer, and there will be some surprises you don't want to miss. Want to know more? Stay tuned..."

Recluse Beer Works of Washougal, WA, has just released Fire & Flowers Spring Bock.

A little earlier than last year's release, but I am not complaining.

And if Heater Allen comes through with their plans to brew Lenzbock this year (!!), I foresee some very tasty SCIENCE in the next month or so.

Russian River made its long awaited debut in Spokane today through Stoup Distro. A handful of bars got kegs/bottles. We will be tapping Pliny tomorrow and then a keg of Pig after it blows. Sounds like we will be getting monthly shipments!

Do you normally have guest taps, or was this a special case?

We only do for special occasions. We might keep Pliny on year-round though as we don’t make a lot of IPA and that beer holds a special place in my heart. It’s not the best double IPA anymore, but I have great memories of it when I first started drinking craft beer in 2008.

Another mystery, Bad Batch Brewing in Wenatchee. They seem to have migrated to Texas judging from their few wisps on online life. Wanted to see if anybody knew before marking it inactive: https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/65847/
