My first go at Hop Butcher here ba. Urbs in horto, dipa- strata & mosaic. Not that big a fan of strata. Gots kind of a dry/fruit tone blend going. I would say more herbal than dank. A different take on the style for sure. Decent but nothing great,

1) Toppling Goliath Sosus (8.2% canned 1/22/25): A NEIPA from Iowa with Mosaic for flavors of tropical orange, blueberry, grape, tropical melon with a sweet nectar and berry flower flavor.
versus
2) Toppling Goliath Fire, Skulls, & Money (7.8% canned 11/8/24): A NEIPA from Iowa with Citra, Mosaic, Galaxy, and Nelson for flavors of grapefruit and orange citrus flower, Fire vinous white grape, gooseberry with some pine and berry to balance. Juicy, complex, and clean. (Correctly matched the two blind)

Was down in Decorah today picking up some of the best right from the source. Toppling Goliath Sosus. All Mosaic. Berries, melon, tropical and amazingly clean. It was right on the cusp of the haze bubble back in 2015, so it's not quite an all out NEIPA.
Next is Fire, Skulls, & Money. A bit newer and my favorite from Toppling Goliath. Complex hop flavors with a dynamic addition from the Nelson that I think really makes this beer. Plus, these beers seem ageless.
Winner: TG Fire, Skulls, & Money

 

Yeah, it beats buying a 4-pk of those Haze boys for the same price or higher any day!
