What beer are you drinking now? #4528

Good morning. I like this beer but don't buy it by the 30 pack anymore, though I feel like it today

 

Good day BAs! Thanks @Shanex for opening the bar! Looks like another sunny pre-spring day here on the tundra of NW PA, but rumor has it it may rain. I've got leaves to rake and burn, mostly from my neighbor's red oak.

Today's New Breakfast Beer, prior to my morning cuppa and smoked salmon, cream cheese, and horseradish on an "everything" bagel:



Kalamazoo Stout Mocha BBA from Bells. Received from @Whyteboar in Barleywine and Stout BIF #2. 12 fl oz bottle. Received 26/02/25, reviewed 13/03/25 (Review 3470). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Final impression and summation: 4 A decent stout but disappointingly lacking in licorice flavor. Some of the bitterness may come from the brewer’s licorice rather than the hops. Coffee and cocoa are present, at least on the nose, but not very evident in the flavors. Lacks the flavorful hit expected from Bells.

I'm beginning to wonder if I've had an occult COVID bout - otherwise asymtomatic but with markedly altered taste/smell. I've had other brews with brewer's licorice but couldn't taste the licorice, despite it being my favorite candy.

Got out on the water in my Old Town canoe for the first time this season yesterday pm - did a little litter cleanup along the lakeshore as well - been working with a guy, who has been placing litter collection "onion bags" at various water access spots all over Ohio....to get some of his litter bags / boxes here around Portage Lakes State Park where I live - will be paddling with him this afternoon!

 

Back to the routine, bottles are my focus to help transfer my remaining cellar beers to the refrigerator this Spring.

A rare mid-day treat for me; had to empty out the beer fridge and lo and behold... last of a collab from last year that I enjoyed, and .... wasn't too bad! Last of the Green Rush!

Got my 10 mile run in with some hills (which pay the billz), lunch hit early, now gotta work for a bit, but I'll be back later with some more beer.

I had to bust out the appropriate glass from the china cabinet for this one. My mother bought me this glass when we visited the brewery in the early 90's. I thought it was pretty awesome.
After decades of not having any Dock Street, it's still pretty good.
Brings back some memories.
