Imagine the exploding heads of OGs who left only to see LC offer new members unlimited bottles of OWK and MJK, lol

I had that same thought, but that just soured me more on the idea of signing up. It's admitting guilt to an underperforming membership.

It’s hard to imagine LC2025 won’t be better than 2024. I think the only thing SP could do to make it worse would be to just offer dramatically fewer beers. That seems unlikely. If I had to choose between being in LC in 2024 or 2025, I would have chosen 2025. Again, no where to go but up.

Reducing LC numbers also means more malty beer releases may land in the "one for everyone in LC" count, which - again - was another hesitation of mine not signing up again.

Ultimately, I didn't care to pay the membership fee to find out, since my other membership gets me exactly what I want without the fuss, extra fees, or 'what if' scenarios.

I feel like all these new people getting invited means LC isn’t reducing member count

Why would they reduce LC member counts? If LC is indeed making out like bandits here and not super interested in exclusivity as much, I don’t know what their incentive would be to make it smaller.

I was wondering what had happened to it. I thought B1 was perfect, all others cloyingly sweet.

The only way it changes is if enough of us stop signing up so that there becomes an economic incentive for SP to change behavior. Agree with the post above that signing up additional new members is a bad sign that things aren’t likely to significantly change in ‘25

I'm adjusting my viewpoint on the LC membership. Yes, I did sign up for a second year and it's with the hopes of it being better than my first (which wasn't bad, per se, just underwhelming for the costs involved).

I wonder... if they didn't allow proxies, wouldn't the membership be MORE exclusive. If you have to pick up your own beers, then you'd likely stick around at the brewery to spend a few more bucks.
SP would have your LC money and any extra that you'd spend during pickups.

But if you're a proxy and doing 3-4 pickups, the potential for paid members to spend more at the brewery drops to just one.

My new stance on LC is that it allows its members to place very glorious to go options that "may" not become available to others. But since i'm an out of towner, I cannot take advantage of some of the other perks of being a local.

I just don't know why they would make this club better if they are still filling spots. They need to sell sour beer to survive. That much is obvious by now. Yeah, some year might get an MJK or OWK. If that is worth the entry price for you, I get it. But if not, then you're just a glutton for punishment.

As an out of towner - first time membership last year was worth it to me.
-For me the membership party was great. I was able to go down with a friend and try a lot of their beers I hadn't before. Do I wish it was in a different month? For sure.
-Throughout the year, SP had plenty of to go options that weren't available to the general public, or were available to LC before the general public, or were available to LC in a better package than the general public. I don't view it as "SP put beer ABC up to the general public they're giving the finger to LC", I view it as - "LC got first dibs on ABC". I'm not buying everything they do anyways.

From that vantage point, I decided it was worth it to renew for me. Was it a slam dunk? No, especially because I don't drink as many saisons/sours as I used to. But if I decided against renewing, it would just be - eh it isn't quite worth it, not "Side Project is screwing its members". I don't have time for that level of getting upset, to be honest.

That kind of attitude isn't allowed around here.

I’m generally curious as to what the break downs of styles of new beer being brewed at SP anymore. Years ago I’m sure it was over 50% sours. I wonder what the breakdowns are now of sours/malty beers/IPAs and lagers

Did they extend the LC sign-up window? Or are they sending out invites to people who didn't renew by the 9th?

Paints an odd picture of the LC membership count - are they struggling to find buyers or are they looking to expand beyond 2024 membership numbers?
