    Good morning Advocates.

Malcantone Craft Brewery (Ozzano dell' Emilia, Bologna, ITA) - RIGA - Baltic Porter (7,5%).

33 cl can (€5 at the pub).
On the label: "Lot: L3124 - Best before: 01/2027".
Baltic Porter (bottom fermentation), a beer style that has not been as common as it used to be in circulation for some time now.
Dark brown in color, more than black, with lighter reddish/brown highlights.
Practically non-existent foam: it appears timidly and disappears on its own in a short time.
In the mouth, a medium-bodied beer, but with a lightness (typical of lagers) that I did not expect, smooth with this light carbonation, similar to carboazoto.
You can find notes of toasted cereals, a quick note of bitter chocolate, then walnuts, toasted almonds and a final with a soft hint of roasting that makes the beer end with a light Marica tea note, while on the palate the notes of chocolate and dried fruit (toasted walnuts and almonds) remain.
Pleasant balance between smoothness and being delicately enveloping and the softness of the drink, although not a triumph of intensity.
    Alcohol content very well hidden.

No beer yet today, but a response to @micada
"What barrels do you think they used? Last year’s seemed more like a BA Samichlaus whereas this year I got a big Blanton’s vibe. Ima write em"

#214 micada, Yesterday at 9:01 PM

I am totally not an expert on barrels. I do drink some bourbon, but, it takes me forever to drink a bottle, so I don't drink too many different ones. It wouldn't surprise me if they did use Blanton barrels.

Off to work to see the video of the two scum buckets that shoplifted last night at work. Fun times.

Good day BAs! Thanks @Jack_14 for opening the bar and for the Baltic porter review! I'm drinking one as well, but a different brand.

Today's New Breakfast Beer is the first out of box #3 from @Whyteboar in Barleywine Stout BIF #2:

Henrik from Transient Artisan Ales. Received from @Whyteboar in Barleywine and Stout BIF #2. 16 fl oz can. Received 26/02/25, reviewed 18/03/25 (Review 3475). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Final impression and summation: 3.75 (After deducting 0.25 point for an undated personal container) Decent take on a Baltic porter, but the body seems a bit thin.

    Rating 3.93, rDev - 4.1%

Thanks Craig - when I'm in MI this summer, I'll check out TAA!

I can only imagine how much product got swiped in the pre-security camera days. 2 people, one is a distraction, or even a fat person costume with compartments...it's Fn amazing the stupid things that people do. Go get 'em @Victory_Sabre1973

Morning, BAs! Buffalo chicken Caesar salad for lunch, with some Sunshine:

@tasterschoice62 I only tried bison for the first time fairly recently. We don't love lamb in our house (although I do like leg of lamb), and I've found that using bison for Shepherd's Pie is awesome. It's got a nice earthy flavor that makes the dish more interesting than ground beef. I haven't tried it for burgers or anything yet, but will soon. :grinning:

Good morning BAdvocates. Drinking the last Alibi Ale Works Golden Mocha Stout from my four pack. Fine beer, but I’m glad to be rid of the exploding cans.
Cheers everyone, and have a great day.

...this bottle was another 'hidden' bottle I had forgotten about, tucked away in the back of the 'Fortress of Solitude' mini-beer fridge...it's good to periodically clear out the beer fridges to make room for an upcoming Tavour shipment ...

...also tasked by Mrs. BeerGoot to make my spaghetti sauce since we're wining & dining an older neighbor lady this evening who is celebrating her birthday...below is the red and white sauteéd onions, thinly sliced garlic, dried basil, green, yellow & red sweet peppers, and ground sweet Italian sausage (finishing the browning) prior to adding the tomato paste, fire roasted diced tomatoes and sliced Roma tomatoes and a variety of other spices (thyme, rosemary, marjoram, fresh ground black pepper and, perhaps, some salt...

...and since Mrs. BeerGoot is out shopping for a birthday gift, I can crank up some Alvin 'Youngblood' Hart while I work in the kitchen...
