I remember many years back on the site when I and other users could select our favorite style of beer and post it on our profile. I would love to see the return of that! I fee it adds engagement and character to each user. I have a makeshift example on my profile, but it’s much easier to select from a list
It's so hard to pick just one! I love lagers of all kinds, but also Belgian ales just as much. How do you choose just one style?
I remember this feature too. I had a favorite back then (porter). I think it's easy to have one favorite early on in this beer-learning hobby, but not so easy later on. There are just so many different styles that are very agreeable to me now.
Dropped in 2012 when we switched from my homemade forum/user profiles to a third-party solution. I don't see it coming back anytime soon, but it could be fun to bring it back one day.
Well, just do a Profile Post with **my new favorite beer is*** instead of what you're grilling or some other deep thoughts... For me right now it's Export Stout since I just had a good one. But wait-- somebody start a new thread and I bet a lot of fish will bite.
I guess my favorite style would have changed once in about 50 years. Until 1985 I'd say American golden ale (mostly Ballantine XXX and McSorleys). Then British-style pale ale (various brands including Blue Point ESB and Montauk Driftwood). An overlapping favorite beer is Harpoon IPA, which I'd classify as American golden ale. Boring I guess.
I'd have a tough choice between American Imperial Stout and English Barleywine. Wheatwine is in the running too...
I think listing least favorite styles would be more fun. The Lithuanian triple bock doesn't get the notoriety it deserves.
I am into Belgians. Tripels and strong golden ales year round. Saison's, fruit and field and Whits in the summer. Quads and Dubbels in the fall and Winter
I don't think that would be the case. IPA's are definitely among the most reviewed style here, but I think that is more of a direct correlation with the US market being flooded with them for the past 15 years.
Definitely a brilliant idea as I wasn’t around pre-2012, let’s bring it on again if possible. Though I’m gonna scratch my head a lot before I come up with my favorite style.
I remember those days. I had my favorite style listed as kellerbier (I'd just visited Bamberg for the first time) and it was a conversation starter at a tasting I went to. Lots of folks had never had one.
