3 Floyds Pillar of Beasts Coconut 12mo BBA English Barleywine, 14.6% ABV. Pours dark brown with a slight ring of brown bubbles. Aroma is light bourbon, caramel, and coconut. Taste is caramel/toffee, coconut, vanilla, bourbon, quite sweet, slightly bitter, some bourbon burn, salt on the close. Decent mouthfeel, leaving sticky lips. Overall outstanding.

New Glarus Brewing Thumbprint Series Imperial Pilsner. 8.7% ABV. The look is cloudy Winnie-the-Pooh, with a white cloud foam sky. The smell is buttered popcorn, white toast, lemon, and dandelion. The taste is caramel, molasses, buttered white toast, candied lasagne, pretzel, and lemon. The mouthfeel is syrupy, creamy, bready, and heavy, with medium carbonation. Overall, this is quite a flavorful beer for a more traditional style. I really like it.

Keeping the New Glarus train running with Thumbprint Imperial Radler:

    Appearance: Hazy orange, ok head.

    Smell: Grapefruit juice, fruit syrup.

Taste: Sweetened grapefruit juice to start and throughout. Some fruit cup like character but not super sweet. Has a little beery mouthfeel right before finishing with more grapefruit juice.

Overall: Another Thumbprint beer picked up at the source in New Glarus. I don't drink a lot of radlers but this is interesting to compare to the super juicy fruit force/juice force IPAs. Interesting to try.

Courtesy of @Roguer from '25 BIF, bottled labeled 2024 edition.

Pours jet black with a bubbly, one-finger khaki-colored head. Head appears airy (not creamy), recesses quickly, and has brownish specs almost akin to cinnamon. Smell is heavy blueberry, so much so you don't even need to be that far away from the glass. Nosed up reminds me a lot of the blue sour straws (think thin candy ropes), hints of vanilla and maple. Taste is, unsurprisingly, blueberry-forward, followed by oak, char, and bourbon. Maple firmly takes a backseat, maybe even rides in a separate car but amplifies the sweetness of this beer. Fairly prickly carbonation with a thinner body for a 19%'er and has somewhat of a slick finish as it warms. Finish wraps up blueberry pancakes and slight bitter oakyness. This is probably the best blueberry stout I have had but I'm still in the camp, save the berries for breakfast and smoothies.

Good afternoon, Weekenders! I've got a new-to-me Boulevard beer courtesy of @Bishop , initially reviewed blind, then fully rated post-reveal.

    [IMG][IMG]

This here's Boulevard's "Spiced" Imperial Stout aged in apple brandy barrels. The quotes are mine, not theirs, as I can't find anywhere what the spices are, although cinnamon seems very likely, at a minimum.

Drinks super easy and thin for the sky high ABV. I could tell it was super potent on the nose, reminding me of World Wide Stout, but you'd never guess it on the palate. Yeasty phenols further muddy the experience. The apple brandy barrels are restrained and complementary, and blend very well with the spices. When you know it's there, you can definitely pick up on it, especially on the back end.

Overall, a very, very good beer, and one that definitely made for a fun blind review!

Dense, viscous pour, near-black color and opaque; incredibly thick, dense, brown head, tightly spongy texture; very long-lasting. Rich milk chocolate and chocolate fudge aroma; notes of cinnamon. A most tasty blend of German chocolate cake and fudge undercut with a light bourbon presence; coconut and vanilla aspects; sweet but not cloying. Incredible density and chewiness to the beer; thick and sticky on the palate; heavy.

Good lord, but this is one incredible barrel aged blended imperial stout. Massive aptly describes nearly every aspect of the beast. The real beauty is that nothing comes across as overpowering or unbalanced given the inherent nature of this beer. A glorious monster of a beer!

Beer received in bif2 barleywines and stouts by @Bishop, new brewery , new beer

Brewers notes; We started with a big, chewy, apricot juice-infused Blonde Barleywine, then aged it in brandy barrels for eight months, where it melded with notes of oak, marzipan, and bright stone fruit.

Chilled bottle poured into a pretentious beer glass. No foam cap, straight to a taupe ring over a muddy brewed tea liquid

    Aroma is malty, yeasty, apricot-y

Taste is malty, apricot taste lingers on the finish

Smooth , silky, sultry , the 15% abv is very well hidden, coats the mouth , no sudsing , hint of booziness but no heat

Blonde, barley, wines and apricots are not something that I would normally choose for myself, however, I do like this combination. Good beer.

My travels took me near Fox Farm today, so why not. Among other things I picked up, I grabbed this 5.8% "West Coast-Style Pale Ale". It's certainly new to me, but I see it was entered in the BA database 6-years ago. I was expecting a SN APA clone, but it is quite different from that, but still good.

Purchased cold today at the source, kept cold. Poured from a 16 oz can dated 03/19/25 to a Nonic at fridge temp.
The body is bright yellow and slightly hazy but not so much that you can’t see rising bubbles far into the glass. The 1”/25mm head is clean white and laces well.
Aroma is citrus and slight pine.
Taste is similar with citrus but the pine or resin character is stronger, but not like a traditional West Coast Pale Ale. Tasty nonetheless. There is quite a nice very dry finish to this beer.
The mouthfeel is light to low-medium and the carbonation is spot on.
This is a really good beer, but I feel it's a little mis-labeled as a West Coast-Style Pale Ale due to the citrus notes and the slight haze. My ratings were a little torn between "rating to style" and rating it blind to style. Very drinkable with hidden alcohol, a light body and a nice flavor.

[IMG] Happy Saturday afternoon! Shoutout to @Bishop for kicking it off! Enjoying a selection from my Trillium 12th Anniversary mini pack: “North Stonington “ New England Lager!

This pours a slightly hazy golden color with lively carbonation and a thick gravely head. Beautiful aroma of citrus and bread. Slightly bitter upfront with a dry finish. Good combination of crackers and lemon.Light mouthfeel with very lively carbonation. A very nice and unique complement to an unseasonably warm late March afternoon!

    Pfeiffer's - Chickity-Czech dark lager

    Pint at the brewery.

Pours dark brown, not quite black, with a medium sized head and medium carbonation. Smell is nice, rich, roasty coffee and burnt toast, nutty.

Taste is similar -- rich and malty with a coffee bitterness. Burnt toffee, good balance of sweet and roasty bitter.

Mouthfeel is light, smooth, zesty. Overall, nothing fancy, but good beer. Drinks kind of like a light Baltic porter.

    Pfeiffer's Famous Beer

Pours clear brassy gold, medium sized head, tons of carbonation from the nucleation at the bottom of the glass (which is perfectly visible because of how clear the beer is). Smell is a little on the funky/skunky American lager side, plenty of yeast and almost a corn note (which is probably imaginary).

Taste is mild, leans towards yeasty and sweet with a noticeable funk element. Light, a little bit of grassy/earthy bitter going on.

Mouthfeel is light clean and crisp. Overall...it's a light lager, better than something like Bud Light, but certainly not inspiring. Probably should say that it's good within the style, just not typically my style.
