This is a continuation from the previous thread, Best Cheap Six-Pack. Picture this: It's been a long day, but you only have a $5 bill (the economy, amirite?) - and you just want to fast-forward to tomorrow. You go to the nearest gas station and go straight to the fridge. Your gaze shifts to the bottom shelf. You're in the mood for a 40, and maybe even some chips or something. What do you choose?
Sorry to be a stickler, but gas stations in Connectict can't sell beer and package stores don't sell singles. But if they did.... Sip of Sunshine.
You gotta include cans here, c'mon. Sounds like you're really asking best 'Malt Liquor'? Some aren't readily available in 40s... My ideal is Schlitz High Gravity 8.5% 'The Bull'. I paid <$3 for it. And I wish I lived around the corner from that gas station in the Dakotas where I happened to find it... More plausible, but still rare, and sometimes in 42 oz plastic bottles - Mickey's. Let's go!
And it was illegal for women to sit at a bar in Connecticut until 1969. What a state. Sorry to be a stickler about Connecticut laws irrelevant to the thread intent.
Wow, pretty progressive. So a year before McSorley's let women in. And it took a few more years in NJ (where a gas station with a liquor license is pretty rare (if they exist) but I knew a few drug stores that did as well as a grocery store that also sold hunting supplies, including ammo). Looks like Rheingold and a can of Schaefer. I'd take the Rheingold but if Schaefer was on tap, I'd go for that.
For penance, I would be happy if McSorley’s currently let women in the men’s restroom. Their urinals are a sight that shouldn’t be seen by only men. Last time I was in Old Town Bar on 18th I was trying to convince my wife to have a look at theirs.
Not sure it can be a "drinking" game if you can't get the lids off. To answer the OP...Haven't drank a 40 in a looooong time but I think Miller High Life comes in that size.
I remember going into some bars in Ontario Canada in the late 70s-early 80s where women couldn't be in the bar unaccompanied by a man. If a group of ladies went in, they had to sit in the restaurant side. Also, you couldn't get a drink without also getting food. We would go in and order a beer, and it would automatically come with a bag of chips.
I feel like an exception to the rules can be made as long as it equals (or is greater than) 40oz, and is still $5 or under.
