From speaking to employees I know well at more than one brewery, this is the number one gripe. This and kids not being monitored by parents. But one typically leads to the other.

I was at the Great American Beer Hall twice in the last two weeks during peak hours, this might be the new number one spot for this. Although from what I've observed parents are really good about watching their kids there.

Anybody know what the food situation is at the new Pru taproom? BYO?

I would be surprised if they didn't allow byo, since they're surrounded by all sorts of food places. If you email the regular treehouse address, they'll have an answer by tomorrow morning for you.

I just found a post on reddit from 5 months back with the headline Tree House was opening full taproom/kitchen at Prudential Center, couldn't tell if the person was legit and there was no article cited.

There will be some strife between my wife and I if we can't take bread and cheese to go from Eataly to enjoy there. We hit that place up every time in the area on her request! Which leads me to...I think just rolling out pizza may not fly the same way if you can grab a really nice pie from Eataly. A more pub food type of menu seems to be a better lane for their particular area. (I actually see there is a California Pizza Kitchen on the block as well, TH could beat the quality there easily however with lease agreements all shopping centers have with various restaurants - you don't see KFC and Popeye's in the same plaza - I'm curious if TH would be restricted on what actual cuisine they could sell.)

Where exactly in the pru did they put it? I’ve been to both spots where you can pick up beer and merch in the mall for reference.

    from TH:
    "Thank you for reaching out!

You are more than welcome to bring your own food at all times. Please NO outside alcoholic beverages on any TH property. "

I work in the pru and just walked by, they have the “tap room” set up across from the Post office where there is that large glass covered seating area where people usually eat lunch. For those that remember where the crazy dough pizza spot was it’s right there. Would have thought they would have used that old pizza counter for service but they actually rolled in a tree house branded beer tap setup, probably the same one they used for the outdoor beer garden in the spring/summer.

My buddy went by yesterday for some beers. The list is small as I mentioned the other day, but the picture he took looked fairly calm. Granted it was a Wednesday afternoon.

I wonder if they'll do the outdoor beer garden as well? Gotta figure in the summer people will want to drink outside.

I wish Nate could’ve bought bought the building The Other Side cafe was in off Newbury Street. So I could enjoy their old turkey sandwich with sprouts and a Green. On the deck, with a few bike messengers and crust punks overlooking a fight or bum. Bring me back to the 90’s working across the street and later drinking there in the aughts.

But, I guess we’ll check out the mall, jockey box.

However, I have to give them some kudos. They are super cool about letting you grab your Pru to go in the garage curbside, park, and run upstairs to use the bathroom, grab some Blue Bottle cold brew or whatever to go real quick. Truly appreciate that that bit of grace period and free parking.

From what I remember reading, I assume a more permanent space there may follow.

You have to imagine there will be right? I've only been to two of their locations, but they're all beautiful facilities with lots of space.

Trillium's Canton spot is much larger, but Fort Point is still a very nice spot, albeit a bit crowded at times.

I'm not well versed in the Prudential, someone mentioned they might take over the old Under Armour spot?

gotta be taking over that UA location. It’s the only space on the Pru big enough to accommodate TH.

I don't know the Pru real estate at all, but the original article, which pulled straight from the licensing board, said it was a 35,000 SF space, so yeah, it's going to be huge.

    https://www.boston.gov/public-notices/16259411

[Tree House] Has applied for a 19C Farmer Brewery Pouring License to be exercised on the above - Two story area with a total area of approximately 35,000sf with storefront glazing at the main entry, curbside, tasting room, 7 exits on the first floor and 2 exits on the second floor. The first floor will have a footprint of approximately 22,800sf and will consist of a 825sf brewing area with a 5BBL brewhouse containing (3) 5BBL fermenters, and (2) 5BBL bright tank, retail sales for off-premise consumption, walk-in coolers, employee areas, restrooms, on-premise consumption areas, commercial kitchen, utility rooms and storage. The second floor will have an approximately 8,750sf area and will consist of on-premise consumption areas (seating for approximately 121 patrons), restrooms, and storage. The on-premises consumption areas will also include the 3,190sf exterior patio area on private property within the Prudential Center. 10:00 PM Closing Hour.

They should just take over the Hynes Convention Center.

Sorry to disappoint, but this is not a thing. It's required space for South Garden to be permitted as an occasional beer garden, nothing more. The permit has since been amended to reflect our actual operation. Some reporters got overzealous. If we're building anything, you'll almost certainly hear about it from us first.

That said, we've got a nice little thing going with beer pickup and the small indoor/outdoor beer garden. Looking forward to the warmer months and seeing folks discover the amazing convenience of beverage pickup in the city.

Not before they buy Tanglewood in the Berkshires. Tree House and the BSO? What's to hate?

Appreciate the clarification. And love the Pru parking garage pickup! The convenience can’t be overstated.

Bummer, def was hoping some massive Boston flagship was coming, but even if it never expands beyond what it is today it’s kind of still my favorite TH location on account of the round trip on the T there being quicker than getting beer from virtually anywhere that isn’t Blanchards. And that’s only minor hyperbole!!
