The question was about 40’s people, not pony cans of craft or 25oz’ers. This is why we can’t have nice threads.

Ballantine XXX Ale easily for me which I was told is no longer being made and I havent had it recently so I dont really know. I would say you could also get it in 6 packs of bottles and 6 packs of 16 oz cans so it kind makes the 40s of it rather pointless but I think the 40s were easier to find than those other formats for some reason.

Still on shelves in its former home of NJ (but only in brown 12 oz. bottles - WTF, Pabst distributors? No cans?) - date codes look fresh but the labels still date from the Molson Coors contract era. Pabst has new TTB COLAs for City Breweries (LaCrosse WI) but I've yet to see them on the shelves.

That said, no way I'd buy the MC-brewed version (or even one still so labeled) - it sucked. Even the Pabst brewmaster admitted it.

There was a period there in the late 1990s, after Pabst closed Milwaukee that they had it contract-brewed in LaCrosse by Heileman/Stroh. It was different from previous versions (Newark and Cranston), but pretty damn good - fragrant & hoppy (again). I mean, it's naive to think they might return to that recipe but hope is free... (and a sixpack is still under 10 bucks).

Wow. Even gas stations in Georgia can sell beer these days. That's crazy.

In what world are you getting beef jerky and a 40 for $5?

R.I.P. Crazyhorse! I almost always go the O.E. route, but Colt 45 double malt will work if I'm in the mood for it.
Although for the same price, I'll take a stovepipe of Victory Golden Monkey over a 40 more times than not.
There's a time and place for a good old fashioned ice cold 40 sometimes though. They must be well chilled.

Food 4 less in Los Angeles is 3.69 for a 40 oz Mickeys. But at Food 4 Less you have to bag your own groceries. All good with me. I am ghetto like that.

Dollar tree beef stick is 1.25. Im not a mathematician but...

A couple Miller lite pints. I have plenty of snack stuff and ingredients at home to cook up while I drink. I'll take another beer over a bag of chips

Since @MikeBinLA is on a math kick: two pints = 32 ounces. Still 8 ounces short!:astonished:

    Cheers!

I'll take 32oz of Miller lite before some drink on the curb or in the ditch 40 ounce. ( punk rock in Hollywood past...) . And in Alabama a couple just means " a few" lol. Could be 48 oz if I don't get the chips lol
