    Last Snow from Funky Buddha.

Poured at a bit warmer than fridge temp (which seems perfect). Pours a nice black with a solid amount of light brown head. Gorgeous looking beer.

The nose is bursting with fantastic notes of fresh coffee. Wow. What a joy to smell. Some dark chocolate, mild coconut, roasted malts, and vanilla also come through.

The taste is silky smooth. Not as much coffee on the taste (compared to nose), but still significant. Milk chocolate, a touch of cinnamon, coconut, vanilla, dark roasted malts, slight molasses, graham cracker, and a touch of walnut.

Mouthfeel is creamy, and the aftertaste is chocolate and coffee. Wonderful porter. I see why the ratings are so high.

Good Word Brewing (GA) Quantum Immortality English style Porter. GWB does this so well and offers a cask ale version at times.

Appearance: Clear, dark brown. Mousse-like, off white head with good retention.

Aroma: Malt forward with roast, chocolate and coffee notes.

Flavor: Closely follows aroma. No burnt flavors. Mild bitterness, drying.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied. Low carbonation. Dry.

Overall: Terrific English style porter. Malty with the expected roasted malt notes but zero burnt flavors. Low bitterness. Drinks very nicely at the 4% abv.

Enjoying BA Baltic Porter called Wolf Spit from Fonta Flora who on occasion will brew with unique ingredients. This time it is toasted Shagbark Hickory bark which according to AI lends a nutty smoky charred wood flavor. Definitely got the charred wood theme as porters typically use lightly kilned malts. Comes across more as an imperial stout as a result. Barrel warms and brings some leather and vanilla. Overall, one of the better BA brews i have had from FF. Rated 4.33
    Cheers!

From yesterday, Calm Storm from Heist in Charlotte, a Baltic Porter. It was very tasty and somewhat unique. First the abv was 6.3, with a flavor profile that brought nuts and toffee on top of the coffee addition. Would have again, looks like an annual release.
    Cheers!

Today were porters for both rounds.
Round 1 was Flying Dog Barrel-Aged Gonze which was posted on the NBW thread. A brief excerpt:
Taste is a medium to heavy roasted malt that yields dark cocoa. Barrel imparts a touch of vanilla. Finishes heavily hopped like an RIS and with the barrel and roastiness comes across as very bitter without being acrid.
Round 2 is an old standby from the wayback days. This is dryer with less chocolate notes than what i remember from back in the day in PHX.
    Cheers!
