Not much beyond listening to Vegas get crushed tonight like every other team I’m pulling for in the first round besides Winnipeg. Every day I wake up, it’s the worst day of my Sox fandom. And catching up with threads I learned Rhode Island Larry may be gone. He will be missed.

But I’m in a mission to clear my Cellar, and this is my third consecutive BCBS. I feel like Nicholas Cage in Leaving Las Vegas.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable day, and those seeking hope or solace finds peace.

Good day Jason, or good night.

    Thank you @Shanex !

Do you have access to Pilsner Urquell cans and prefer bottles, or just bottles? I always buy cans when able, in part because its lighter when I'm lugging beer home on foot or via public transportation plus walking, and in part because outside of Lambic or Quads, feel the the beer is preserved better in cans (OK with aging bottles, I ALWAYS refrigerate cans, never place in the cellar).

I know you've been to North America including Vegas, my American home away from home (Montreal is my "foreign" home away, in part because I've only left the US a few times).

Have you ever been to Quebec or speak with Cajan speakers in Louisiana? Do you also feel a gap between the culture where you live in Northern France and Parisian culture?

I'm hoping to return to Quebec Late Summer or Fall after a long hiatus from visiting Canada / Quebec. I also wan to hit the Maritimes for the first time.

Many questions that require an elaborated response @ChicagoJ

I only ever find PU in bottle and even in a fridge in the supermarket making that I can drink it straight away when home.

Vegas was a one night stay in July 2012 in the (duh) painful heat. 37c by 9am is pushing it a bit for me. Still enjoyed the brightness of the place, the intensity even for a peace and quiet normally kind of guy. I wanted to see it and did obviously mostly the very much tourist spots that you know too well.

About Quebec; I’ve been to Montreal but unfortunately I can’t make any beer recommendations beside Unibroue which already existed some twenty years ago. Lovely city. Maybe the most exciting in North America. I find San Francisco even more beautiful but it’s on the pacific, and has plenty to do, see and eat as well.

There’s too many difference to name between a French guy and a Quebecois so where do I even start? We’re cordial to each others and share a mutual identity and language, though there’s the Quebec slang and accent as well.

Quebec is surrounded by near 400M Anglo yet is three times larger than France. You’ll like it visiting again. Rue St Denis, University MacGill, Rue Sainte Catherine and the Mont Royal (a hill overlooking downtown MTL) brings me fond memories.

    Cheers!

Really appreciate your thoughtful responses. If I didn't have family in Vegas, I'd probably just use it more as a brief touch point before hitting State and National Parks across the South West, as I really don't gamble like I did in my 20s and 30s. Being from the city, I also better appreciate an escape to nature while on "vacation".

I wasn't a craft beer drinker (or even much beer) my previous visits into Quebec or Ontario. I really appreciate the unique architecture in Montreal, and did my best with my extremely limited French, which I'll study again before my next trip. My Chicago accent does not help both here or abroad. Montreal can be more accepting of tourists, but if you get deeper into the province such as going north to Quebec City, it is a bit more challenging as a non French speaker.

Unibroue has great beers, but I don't believe they have a public taproom. Dieu du Ciel! is my favorite Quebec brewery to date, and I'm really happy they recently resumed distributing here for the first time in nearly a decade.

    Cheers!

Good day BAs! Looks like another decent day (That'll be two in a row with no rain - drought conditions around here). Thanks @ChicagoJ for opening the bar! I spent a week in Arles and found the people to be warm, gracious, and welcoming - in Paris, not so much. With a little luck, I may make it to Montreal this summer.

Today's New Breakfast Beer, which can from the cellar of a house I'm cleaning to sell:

Final impression and summation: 2.5 Totally innocuous drink, certainly not beer, but probably cheaper than water.

Good morning BAs! Back at the condo packing up small stuff. I’ll fill the SUV then return home to unload. Taking a coffee break with Fifty/Fifty’s Eclipse (2024) Garrison Brothers Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout:

Poured at 55.4°. Strong bourbon nose. Taste is bourbon and dark chocolate. A little dry oak from the barrel. A bit of a bite on the tip of my tongue from the 12.4%. A delicious breakfast beer.

Sunny hot 90° forecast for today. I’m trying to work in the mornings while it is relatively cool and pleasant. Cheers and have a wicked Wednesday y’all!
