Traveling to Scotland this August-- Looking for brewery, bottle shop, and good pub recs all over Scotland: St. Andrews Speyside Inverness Portree Glencoe Edinburgh Thanks in advance!
Edinburgh go to pubs - Guildford Arms, Cafe Royale Circle Bar, Bow Bar, Blue Blazer, Oxford Bar, Kay’s Bar, Stockbridge Tap. All amazing selection of cask ales and unique vibe. Don’t bother w/bottle shops - just drink the real ale on hand pull. For a special treat - hike to the top of Arthur’s Seat and use your gps to bushwhack down into Dudingston and hit up the oldest pub in Scotland - the Sheep Heid. Good luck
Don't miss Wasted Degrees in Blair Atholl, near Pitlochry if you're in those parts. Further north, Inverness might be worth a detour, where you can drink Black Isle and Cromarty beer. Note that it's more the exception than the rule for Scottish breweries to have a taproom on the premises.
Uile-bheist in Inverness was really cool! We were just there a few days ago. They are a brewery and a distillery but they don't have any of their own whisky available yet as it has to sit in barrels for 3 years before they can bottle their first one. The beer was pretty good. They do have a couple of whisky blends that they did that you can purchase. Black Isle is also worth a visit. The pizza was pretty good too. They also have some guest taps from other breweries.
