No judgement from me. I was shocked to see that. Didn't know that made it.

 

Lol! Yeah, I fortunate to be in Athens during that time. On weekends, we just hopped from bar to bar to see whatever bands were playing. Fun as heck time.

 

Phase Three - Chocolate Hills: Mexican Hot Chocolate

First time trying this brewery. This one is kind of trippy - it tastes both like Mexican hot chocolate and Rocky Road ice cream at the same time. A bit different from what the other recently sampled Mexican hot chocolate beers tasted like, as far as I can recall, but not bad. It is on the thinner end, which makes it less overwhelming and heavy, so it still works.

 

cake is an underrated band. Love those guys. Saw them for the first time last year in Bend, OR at Hayden Amphitheater. So good!

Happy Thursday ba. So it begins- summer lager season. Grabbed a full 12-pack,

 

1) BlackStack Loud Pack (8.3% no canning date): A NEIPA from Minnesota with Citra, El Dorado, Mosaic, and Galaxy for flavors of sweet orange, papaya, melon, and mango
versus
2) Hop Butcher A Decade Of Hop Decadence (8.5% canned 3/11/25): A NEIPA from Chicago with Citra, Orange, Simcoe, and Galaxy for flavors of mandarin orange, berries, tropical melon, and mango. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

BlackStack vs. Hop Butcher NEIPA Battle. Both with a standard combo of Citra, El Dorado, and Mosaic. First is BlackStack Loud Pack. Bright pineapple, orange citrus and sweet melon. Pretty good from BlackStack.
Next is Hop Butcher A Decade of Hop Decadence, a 10-year anniversary IPA. It has similar hops but instead Simcoe. Fantastic mandarin orange, tropical melon, berries, and mango notes. Complex and robust hop flavors, but still drinking not overly sweet at 8.5%. Fantastic anniversary IPA from Hop Butcher.

 

And the era of Hershall Walker at UG! I was in school at Ft. Gordon (Augusta) 82-83 and he was pictured everywhere....cheers!!

 

There are a few of us around! Great band!

Detroit had a pretty good music scene then - I was at Michigan State in the late 80’s - I only got down there a couple of times for shows unfortunately.
